Yep, you're paying for the convenience of being able to spread the payment - it's no different to insurance companies that allow you to pay car insurance in a single payment or monthly/quarterly, they charge for the extra admin (minuscule though that may be)pvr said:

You never know, it could happen as they currently allow payment of parking via mobile which you do not display a ticket but it would be a lot of work unless they already check every legally parked car they come across even if parked in an unregulated area?

I SORN mine for 4 months of the year but always buy 12 months and then send it back for a refund on the 31st October so you dont get the 10% penalty :wink:

you joke, as soon as i heard they were doing away with the disc i said , how will they police it , at least police or wardens couls physically see if a vehicle was taxed, now they cant, which means they will be planning a lot more fixed anpr cameras maybe as part of the blue traffic cam network. definately another step down the big brother surviellance road.the evaders will now just have false or cloned plates and many will get awawy with it, before, they drew attention to themselves as they had no disc or an out of date disc.a step backward imo. i am not a tax evader or a criminal so i have nothing to fear, I do though have a bit of a problem with more and more surviellance. why should they know where we are at any given time. :thumbsdown:

another backward step surely is the changes that you cant sell yr car with tax on, why? just makes it harder for everyone, dont get the thinking behind this , again its less choice for us :thumbsdown:
I can see the thinking though, UK is the only country (perhaps Ireland) where you can sell a car with tax on it. Bit odd to be able to sell tax as such. On mainland Europe, you just pay when you get a car, daily even.
Makes more sense to me, but the next step should be a per day charge, not per whole month so you just tax as and when. So if you go on holiday for a month, you don't tax the month.
