One more month and we can throw it away, thank goodness. Never understood why we needed it in the first place.

Yep, they are already anyway but for some reason they are currently recorded on the paper as well.

Bit like the tax disk - it is just not required so they finally acknowledged that now. They have opened the access to car rental companies and employers now to verify.

Really ? Didn't know this... Won't need it for my speed awareness course in January then

I have started taking it a bit easier in the ///M. To easy to get carried away

It was just a stupid mistake, not even hooning - 61 in a 50, variable speed limit on the motorway near home. Need that B2 fixed or replaced with something else... Funny thing is. The only points I have ever had were years ago for doing 61 in a 50 on a dual carriageway. At least this time I got the option of no points. Didn't realise the course costs £87 though !

I did a SAC the other week, just before insurance time on the ///M, the insurance company asked if I had any points or been on a SAC, I said yes to the latter and it increased my premium, so they do take it into consideration, sorry PVR for the :hijacked:

What a great shame and another knock to the British motoring institution, just like getting rid of paper tax discs.

Glad I can still hang onto my paper licence as I never did change for the awful ID Licence.

What will be next?

Tim.

Years ago when the new photocard was introduced the DVLA/media reported that the endorsement/points information could not be carried on the chip as it required a different chip and a thicker plastic card. The card was not "thick" enough to be "smart". Sounds like that was another Government (or media) half truth or lie depending or your point of view.

Don't know about the above, but think more of an issue was there was no system in place to allow employers and others to access this information so we had to keep the counterpart.

It's probably only your driver number stored on the chip.

I've still got the old paper thing, I was going to get a new photo one a few years back but a few people I know did it and found their motorcycle entitlement had magically disappeared from their new licence. Despite appeals they had to take their bike tests again, one guy it happened to on a forum was a bike cop and even he had to re-take his test. It became an insurance nightmare as well because on paper riders who'd had bikes for years suddenly became rookies. They've apparently sorted it now but I'm taking no chances.

As far as the SACs go I've never yet been asked by an insurance co if I've done one. I did one back in 2010, most boring day of my life listening to 3 of the most uninterestng, supercilious snidely little twats drone on for hour after hour. Next time I'll take the points!

Supposedly, as the number of speeding tickets have gone down as more people are taking the courses, the insurance companies have resorted to ask about SAC so they can boost their income again.

I was lucky and the opposite happened. I changed my NL license a number of years ago( I had to because of insurance, I would never do that now !!!), and the DVLA gave me every entitlement. So I have a motor license, truck license and everything else due to their mistake.

If you took your test pre 1990 then you would be entitled to these. You wont be able to drive a class 1 HGV though or big coach though.
