I recently had a similar situation when trying to make a purchase from a company. I thought their request for various copies of my card and other ID was strange. I phoned my card issuer and they agreed with me that it was not a good idea to give away such information and certainly not usual practice. I would never use a company that insisted on having so much of my personal details.
