Buying an Aston Martin DB9

Waiting to see the pictures....

Yes - collected her from Cheltenham yesterday. Will try to get some taken and posted today.

Bit delayed picking up as the dealer had trouble fitting the DRL 'blades' and then decided it needed 4 new tyres (foc of course)- shame :)

Well I've given the big powerful Mercs some thinking and they remain a 'no'. Big boring saloons with monster engines. Sorry - they don't do it for me.

MrsCJ even suggested an ///M coupe (which we saw one today on a forecourt) and then stick a Focus/318, etc. on the drive with the spare cash for time we need 4 seats. Interesting, but can't see me with 2 of the same on the drive.

As to Ring comments PVR - not the purpose of this car. The electric gremlins, etc. do worry me a tad, so I'll be looking into that one.

Get the z4mc - not much money for a lot of mental car. I've had mine for 4 years and I don't want to let it go - its that good. With the spare 25 grand Take the mrs to Dubai with the spare cash and go and see "Roger" ( a girls best friend) for a nice diamond... Everyone happy and you still have change :) and will make an old man feel young again...

Well things just changed and eveloved over time. Looked at the XKR, but it's up for replacement soon, so may revisit it in 3 years time.

This is what I endded up with - collected yesterday:
3.0 D Premium Luxury 'S' Dealership fitted me the aero kit (front and skirts) black grille and LED 'blades. Had top of the range 20" Senta rims. Awating a special rear badge and need to change the lower grilles to silver.

Looks stunning the aero kit really sets it off and also gives it road presence, white does look good on big cars they carry it well .

I had not seen any white XF before. This is the first one.

I think the first mod is painting the calipers. They look rusty.

Thanks guys
45 mpg on the motorway from the dealers over 70 miles. Mid 20 'testing' it today on twists.
Calipers def. need treating. Same crap finishing as BMW
No more AM dreams. Will revisit that in a few years :)

Interesting journey from a search for a V12 supercar with bad fuel consumption to a sporty salon to a diesel car usually favoured by high mileage drivers :)

Hey but life is a journey.

CJ, it really isn't my cup of tea, but I can appreciate why you might desire it, life would be very dull if we all desired the same things though.

Have lots of fun :driving:

Yes you"re so right -odd journey.
The jag is part designed by Callum of DB9 fame so you can see the lines, especially the rear.
4 doors but more coupe than anything else.
Diesel just for the performance. The petrol was sooo slow and no mpg and actually rare as nobody buys them.
In the end the Aston was not the right quality at the price I wanted, so we'll wait a few years and get a later model, or even a new range Jag XK.

Nice car cj10jeeper, what is the ride like on 20"? was thinking of ordering that size on my next car :)

Having run the same car on 18's for a couple of weeks I can def tell the difference. Picks up more noise on rough surfaces. Also feels less float and more planted.

Trouble is they are uber smooth cars coming from an X5 and Z4 so square wheels would feel ok.

What car just did a report that said 20's are the downside, but the XF needs them for looks.

i really like it.. i see lots of them & white with the aero kit looks fab; it's had lots of rave reviews but even then I think it's an underated car.

Great engine too like you say.. Was in a couple of the new 2.2D's last week with standard 17s on, & they look ridiculous.. so great commitment for getting the 20s. 8)

Still.. little disappointed you let the dealer fit the aero kit, hopefully not a sign of things to come?
:poke:

Ha ha - I endedup with it cheaper cites than supply only and this way it's under manufacturer warranty.

Ksher - I'm not sure but the replacement had a horror plate with blue EU flag so thought I'd try it and see.
I'll likely for a cut down one in time.
