In the dealers 2 young lads turned up to look at them. One in a Ferrarri other an R8. Makes oyu wonder where the dosh comes from
Work hard play hard!

Glad you got the deal worked out Phil .

Hope you bring it to one of the meets for us all to drool over!!

Well sometimes things don't work as planned.
Viewed the car and it was not as expected. Needed a lot of interior work, damaged drivers squab, lots of panel respray, etc. scratched dash, etc. In the end walked away and indeed walked away from Aston altogether for now.

Lovely looking cars - no doubt, but I need to wait for the 2008 models to drop into price or stump up £60k+ now, which I won't do.

End result is I've purchased a near new Jag XF. Specced to stupid levels at a price I could not leave alone.

Collect end of next week.

Keeps the Zed as the focus of my polishing and waxing and leaves me a lot of money in the bank to play with :D

I really like the XF and would probably have one over the equivalent 5-series or E-class. Just that I - and no offence Phil - feel a bit young to be driving at XF at 32

Ah but I'm mud 50's so guess OK
Def different but a pretty saloon for what it is.

The Aston was to be a 5 year keeper so this will make a nice 2 year stopgap.if I don't like it then it goes.

Spec is 3litre premium luxury. Added almost every extra from rear headrest DVD system,
Electric blind, upgraded rims, sunroof, metallic paint, digital tv, etc

In 5 years time I too wil be in my mid 50's, I will watch out for you selling up, keep the miles low and keep it in good condition :)

My neighbour has an XF Luxury (entry level model), in a nice light blue colour. Its a lovely car, and he is mid 40-ish. Good purchase c10jeeper!

whoaaahhhh

just seen this thread Phil hah.. i was gonna say dont buy the aston & look at the jags.. then a few pages later you've bought an astonnn.. then an XF..

As u know I have the Jag board in my street so I see lots of XJL's, XFRs, XKRS's.. they sound awesome.

I think an XKR is a cracking piece of kit & you wouldn't need a new one so you'd save a bit. Ok it's not quite in the epic turn-around-and-look category as the DB9 but dynamically I think it would be a better car.

But.. it's all about the Maser. Driven one & it's my more realistic dream car this side of a Gallardo. The noise is just spot on, gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

I must say I agree on the Maserati... I live in Harrogate and Astons are ten a penny, you even get lots of Ferraris and Lambos, all seemingly driven be old men or young wankers. The Maserati is understated to the casual passer-by, but impressive to those who like cars.

Photos will have to wait until next week when I can get some decent shots

Err, it's next week now :poke: :)

Strange I'm still in this week, but I get the car next week, so you'll have to wait longer.

As forthe Masser - def a great car and a lot more robust than the older models

Grr by a split second I get an 'edited by'.. lol.

Lots of love for them though. I'd have:

Yeah actually enjoy the XF for a few years Phil, I don't want you buying one before me.

Beautiful - so now you guys are pulling every bit of exotica you can find since I've gone for a Jag ...lol

Not really, I recon the Jag is a top choice and a good stepping stone before the Maserati... Can't say the DB9 is that impressive to me anymore, feels like finally being able to own a Lambo Countach only to find out that it was cool 20 years ago but you missed the boat (IMO)

You posted your comment on the 9th which was the end of last week, the new week commenced on the 11th (in my world anyway) :)
