ETA is still on my list for Inspec II. Just getting train to there and back is the issue :headbang:
Blackfriars line direct to Eynsford (Sevenoaks train) and they drop you off/pick you up. There is a bus. But it's every two hours, consists of a change halfway and train - taking further two hours to get into town (aka my Monday). Worth the effort though.

Ok, might mean a train to Hastings and then up to Sevenoaks (if that's possible) which might be better than going into London first.

Just ordered a new key for the car. £140 and should arrive tomorrow at my local Stealer. Might bring the old one Sunday too, just in case

Looking great Inkey$ Glad to see it coming along the way you envisaged!
Cheers Tom. Pretty much got all sorted now. Few niggly bits to sort then a decision: KDS Keltec corrective paint session or day trip to Cardiff for Prospeed catback system.
Cant wait to get the new key. The old one looks like its been chewed by a dog.

Since the weather is a bit rubbish today I thought I would try and polish out a a section of bonnet with AG SRP. Started with an layer of G3 which initially scratched more (!) but the SRP at least took care of that.

Not great results after 6 applications. KDS will have their work cut out when I eventually get around to booking her in.

It's not a bad result given you probably did it by hand - certainly fewer scratches and brighter

Bet you don't fancy doing the whole car though...

No way. Looks better in the pics but actually the increased brightness is due to garage door being open

Welcome to try my polisher (I have the same red on my Golf - but without the scratches  ).

I can direct you on how to use that whilst I direct Bing on how to change the brake pads whilst I am on the phone 8)

Nah, it'll be no problem - look at this as an sample of what a pro can do (not KDS)

It's from a recent thread over on DW - apparantly someone upset his girlfriend and, among other things, she scratched “ASSHOLE” across the boot lid in capital letters down to the metal

and similarly deep scratches down the sides

After a bit of paint filling (not respraying) and polishing it came up like this...

Now, to my mind, to repair the paint to that standard without any respraying is mind-boggling

Breadvan update: Ever since my Inspection 2, new droplinks and H&R ARB install back in April, the car has developed a strange noise thats finally got to my OCD. Noticed it when I backed out of ETA Motorsport after the work had been done but put it down to things just bedding in.

What it is, is a sort of knocking, vibrating, grinding type sound - quite deep, from the rear of the car and occurs when cold or if the car is driven but left for longer than about 30 mins. The sound happens in both forward and reverse gears and completely disappears after about 15 seconds of driving (even slowing to a stop and starting again). First though was brake shoes in the hubs, but why would that develop immediately after the work I had done when there was no noise at all before?

I've tried recording the noise but its difficult on my own so I've contacted ETA and asked them to take a look at it. While booked in I've also asked them to check the front discs and calipers as I'm getting some vibration through the steering wheel under braking and suspect its either A) warped discs, B) pad deposits or C) me not driving hard enough!

Breadvan update: Experienced one of those perfect days today. Took it as a holiday and drove the ///MC to ETA Motorsport for them to investigate this strange noise I was experiencing and also see if and and how badly my front discs are warped. Turned up at 0845 on a perfect, sunny morning and left her with them before wandering down the road on foot to spend a few hours at Brands Hatch. Being a free practice day I grabbed myself a bacon roll and a coffee before sitting on the grass near Druids and watching Mk2 Golfs try and chase down race prepared Astons and Ginettas.

Few hours in the sun later and ETA call to tell me the car is sorted so I pop back and turns out that when they installed the ARBs for me back in April, the exhaust mount poisition wasnt quite in the right place and as such, everytime I started the car it would vibrate until up to temperature. They repositioned the exhaust and problem solved. Told me my front discs were a little warped and could do with changing but would be fine for a while so thats a job for late summer I reckon.

Jumped back in the car a happy man and took her for a spin in the wilds of North Kent before returning to Brands for lunch and some more racing. Bumped into Lynchy and had a great time chatting in the grandstand and watching the cars buzz by. One of those great days with work a very distant concept :)

Anyway, here's a few pics from my hack. Still dont get how a dirty car can look this good to the naked eye!

I very nearly gave you a call when I bumped into Eddie. Didnt want to tempt you too much though. Definitely next time/soon mate

That might have broken me :D

...though next week would be even more of a nightmare than it already is. I'll have my day off tomorrow - SWMBO is away all day from 6am to 9pm so I can spend as looooooooong as I want cleaning the car, then go bash it round some lanes and get it dirty again :driving:

Have fun :driving: I'm off up north for a mates 40th, otherwise I might have been out again :driving:
