John, are you still within the cooling off period and able to cancel, or threaten to, the PCP?

My logic here is if that’s the only document you’ve signed and you can still legally cancel that then they have nothing to hold you to the purchase of the car.

The PCP is just what would be the repayment deal etc, at this stage. I haven’t signed anything yet to allow them to start taking money, that’s normally done on pick up.

You might be in the right (at least from my reading), but whether it is enforceable is another question.

Would be interesting to see how this plays out, as with all dealer related issues it may be a bit of hassle but worth it in the end.

Most I’d lose is 1k deposit Jameszy, not huge but still not something I’ll give up without a fight if it came to it. I doubt they’d want this all over the net, given the times we're in..? There is no documentation, Email or text etc, or voice recording of them ever giving me a lockdown date.

Nope nothing legally binding Andy. I know what they’re doing, they’re sweet talking and buttering me up something silly, I quote email yesterday, “John don’t worry, it’s going to look awesome when it lands this month, I can’t wait to see it and I’m not buying it! I really admire your bold choice, not many customers have the vision”...! What a load of cobblers....! Upstairs in the powder room they’ll be calling me all sorts of cute names, mostly beginning C....!! :roll: :lol:

I’ve chucked a curve ball in last night, told them if I don’t like it on pick up they keep it and build me a new one as I wasn’t given a lockdown date. Let’s see what that brings. Nothing so far today on it.

When I was picking my colours the salesman told me that in the dealership they call Misano Blue with Cognac interiors "superman's underpants".....I guess they tell the customers who choose it that it is a "bold choice" and that the customer had "vision"

As you have said you are not in a rush for the car then I would do some leg work and see the various colour combinations in the flesh before you make your final decision.

Oh I would put money on it I don’t have it BeeEmm...but we have to follow the rules as my son can’t go back into school yet without the results. Having said that I feel so rotten it’s in the back of the mind.....but I highly highly doubt it.

The irony is Boyo when I gave the demo car back last week the sales guy showed me the red interior in his 2 series which is the same as the Zed, we both commented on how good it looked in and out of sunlight, and I said having seen it close up how much better it looked than pics or in the locked car I once saw it in and I’d seriously consider it...!

I think this is a case of needing to speak to the right person. Sort of like that recent thread on PistonHeads were a chap spent 6 figures on a RR Ghost, only for it to turn out to be clocked. The dealership wouldn't budge, but RR corporate would and bent over backwards to sort it.

A different case, yes, but the same applies. Speak to BMW UK and outline the issue. Putting an order through for a client isn't difficult, and the dealer still managed to f**k it up by not providing you the final date. How were you supposed to know? You don't have an open line of comms with the factory, so how would you know time was up to change the build sheet.

Their problem, speak to corporate and get it sorted. Good luck

As an aside there is currently a black one on Autotrader UK with the Congac interior and it does indeed look very smart. If it had the cerium grey trim instead of black it would have been spot on.

My own preference is for a black interior but if I couldn't get one then the Congac would be very close behind it. I find the red too bright as I'd like it more like an ox blood burgundy and white is just a hard no from someone who wears jeans all the time and intends to daily drive it.

That's a relief...the red is far too orange which is disappointing as the coral in my previous E89 was lovely.

Have you seen the Magma red in the flesh..? It’s pretty good actually, not perfect by any means but a change from black and not as middle aged as Cognac.

Yep, Kansas red was the name, they never did a Kansas Coral.
