BT Pairing - Fixed!

I have searched and read many if not all of the threads on here regarding this, and still I have issues.

1) The car has BT fitted, has been working fine on 3GS for over a year.
2) New iPhone4S to be paired works OK with the E60, so no issues with phone it would suggest.
3) I have no paring button in the centre console as I fitted a 3GS cradle and snap-in last year. The original cradle had the pairing button, hence how I originally paired the 3GS iirc.
4) Have tried many permutations of the Ignition off, hold down the R/T or Call buttons on steering wheel for 3 seconds and releasing after turning key to position 1, 2 etc.
5) If I press the R/T button I get "No Phone" displayed, this is all.

Any ideas how to initiate the Pairing process given the above information? The manual is not useful as I have "no pairing button" as originally stated. I have read that on the E46 there is an option to short some pins etc, not sure this is an ideal method.

Anyone got a procedure to unpair, maybe this is required? I have tried unpairing by the various methods, but maybe I am missing a trick somewhere as it seems others have had success. A detailed procedure would be appreciated given my particular configuration, No Nav, no pairing button and Business CD.

I wouldn't normally consider myself as a "Muppet" when it comes to technology, however in this instance the case for the prosecution appears to be gaining momentum, TIA.

UPDATE: Seems I am a Muppet! It couldn't really be easier. No need for 3 seconds this and 3 seconds that, turn key to here and turn to there etc.
The release button with the bluetooth logo on "IS" the Pairing button on the new cradles! Simply hold this down, put key in ignition and start the car and release button. BT Pairing then initiates! Thanks for the replies.....

Is there any button in the centre snap-in? I seem to recall someone saying that they used the button in there after fitting the 3GS module (I may be mistaken though...) and it worked as a pairing button?

Have you also tried the 'search from phone' method and pair from there?

Apologies if you've tried all this...

The bt pairing buttons in the centre console on the pull down flap in front of the snap in module bit. I've posted a couple of pics below. Excuse the quality thats the iPhone for you!

With the ignition off hold down the button and then turn key to second position whilst still holding it down. Hold it for about 5 seconds and then release. The screen should now read paring mode (or something similar). You should now be able to find it with your iPhone and then enter the paring code. it will take a minute or so to upload your phone book.

Hope this works

I've deleted the pics now as they were too large and annoying!

First try removing all pairings and then repair
Do you have the 4 digit code
If you pm me I'll send you 2 x pdf of the BMW comms manual
covering pairing and unpairing

It's not though! It was on the old pre=3GS cradle, but the new cradle has no button. This is my exact point.

Thanks for all the effort in response, but honestly, there is no pairing button in the new cradles in centre console, that accept iPhones 3GS onwards anyway.

Do you not have a button to eject the cradle that is also the pairing button
I have a facelift with the updated eject box . I have had the 3G /3GS cradle and now the 4 cradle and the pairing button is there always has been.it is small with a Bluetooth icon on it
Bluetooth was factory fit

So put the old cradle back in to activate pairing and sort the iPhone 4 out then swop cradles back again - simples, or install an intravee which can start pairing or dismantle your centre console and fit a pairing button.

Tapatalking on my iPad.......

See update to OP. I had considered fitting the old cradle as a workaround, but was convinced there must be an easier way, and there was...
