Bronze or Gold wheels on a yellow E89?

Ye it wouldn't work in my opinion, regardless of colour there needs to be some contrast. Dark on light light on dark etc

I think if it was silver, grey, blue red bronze wheels can look great. Ive been so tempted on my imola but my partner thinks it looks Impreza asbo.

So OE silver it is as personally I really dislike dark wheels, black or grey. They scratch easy, catch them stands out like a sore thumb, get them dirty they look matt. The most important thing for me is you loose all the detail.

Had two sets of 224s in grey and black and my minis have had black wheels never got on with them.
Spot on Tom - you must have some contrast on any car to highlight its lines, stance, shape etc etc. Going all one colour just doesnt work at any level....

Black with polish lip would look best or add rim protector to create a split contrast. This on my brothers Jag SVR

Personal opinion but the yellow peril looks great as it is. Keep the wheels plain and let the car be the star. Anything else just looks cheap.

Following (well in anticipation) of Nanu’s profound advice the 19” Arc-8s have now arrived in satin black as have the Conti Sports 7 tyres.

I did ponder the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 but they come in surprisingly limited size options so despite their very good reviews were not an option.

Wheels are going to be finished in gloss black..

I’ll fit them post my upcoming next mystery tour starting tomorrow..they came to late to be fitted for this odyssey…

I like the original finish too

Be interesting to hear feedback on the tyres as I’ve no doubt I’ll be needing rears at some point soonish

It is a nice finish...I tried satin black on my 437Ms and it just didn’t work on the Yellow Peril where it carries a bit of gloss black accents..the unexpected good news from the wheel man is that because the satin black is brand new they can just lightly scuff them and then spray gloss black and gloss lacquer which should give a better finish than powder coat with gloss lacquer..here’s hoping..

The tyre reviews are now rating them on a par with the GY Assy 6 but for different reasons..better handling but not so good ride comfort etc

Pity they don't do oversizes to suit the E89 (not checked the G29) and their is no rear stock 19" fit

Woaw 245/35R19 fronts, I'd like to fit that on my E86 but on top of rubbing being an issue the rarity and price difference with 235s is hard to justify. But a 245/35 front with 275/35 or 275/30 rear would be fun. Seems like only BMW and Mercedes use this size on some sport models making them very expensive.... :(

I'm running PS4S with 235/35 19 and 275/30 19 on 9J and 10J

The PS4S have a very dead feel to the steering / feedback IMHO..so going to my preferred vendor (although Sports 7 are new)..previous Contis have really suited the E89..with that weight and power I wanted to try and balance the front rear ratios up..akthough from a rolling radius the 235/35 is a perfect match for 275/30 whilst the 245/35 creates a 1% error which is deemed acceptable for the DSC..

Conti state for the Arc-8s 8.5J and 9.5J that either 235/35 or 245/35 and 275/30 are the perfect fits for those rims..

Yes they are expensive but these the cheapest Apex wheels were still £2k.. :tumbleweed:

A good friend of mine is engineer for Michelin so he would not like your comment on the PS4S  but would supports your Apex rims width with 235 or 245 front and 275 rear. He told me 235 are at the bottom of recommandations on 8.5" rims and 245 would be perfect. 275s on 9.5" ar perfect. It sounds like Michelin does not like or recommand strech at all.

He also supports the radius match front to rear though in my case on the E86 the DSC is not picky. I would like to push some 275/35's at the rear for the look and increased wall but they might not fit in there and I might loose precision.

Well good to know that 'Michelin' approves

On a serious note the PS4S is a great tyre...seems to love abuse and sticks really well..just doesn't seem to marry to the E89 chassis as well as others..

I love E85s with the oversize tyres..I think its a very pretty car especially from the 3/4 view

Isn't that a step in the wrong direction with the ARC-8? Going from forged 19" wheels to cast sounds risky on UK roads.

It may well be but…

They are roll formed
They offer a 24 month limited warranty
You can buy just one wheel at 50% off list price
I don’t like the look of 437Ms
I do like the look of the Arc-8s
You can’t get Arc-8 forged in 19”

Never had an issue with any other cast wheel..Zito/Team Dynamics/BMW 103

So it is what it is..

Went with gloss black over satin black plus clear lacquer..
