Spot on Tom - you must have some contrast on any car to highlight its lines, stance, shape etc etc. Going all one colour just doesnt work at any level....tomscott said:Ye it wouldn't work in my opinion, regardless of colour there needs to be some contrast. Dark on light light on dark etc
I think if it was silver, grey, blue red bronze wheels can look great. Ive been so tempted on my imola but my partner thinks it looks Impreza asbo.
So OE silver it is as personally I really dislike dark wheels, black or grey. They scratch easy, catch them stands out like a sore thumb, get them dirty they look matt. The most important thing for me is you loose all the detail.
Had two sets of 224s in grey and black and my minis have had black wheels never got on with them.

And it is, of course, completely your choice. Looking forward to seeing them on the car![]()

Be interesting to hear feedback on the tyres as I’ve no doubt I’ll be needing rears at some point soonish![]()
axelleveau said:Woaw 245/35R19 fronts, I'd like to fit that on my E86 but on top of rubbing being an issue the rarity and price difference with 235s is hard to justify. But a 245/35 front with 275/35 or 275/30 rear would be fun. Seems like only BMW and Mercedes use this size on some sport models making them very expensive....![]()

The PS4S have a very dead feel to the steering / feedback IMHO..so going to my preferred vendor (although Sports 7 are new)..previous Contis have really suited the E89..with that weight and power I wanted to try and balance the front rear ratios up..akthough from a rolling radius the 235/35 is a perfect match for 275/30 whilst the 245/35 creates a 1% error which is deemed acceptable for the DSC..
Conti state for the Arc-8s 8.5J and 9.5J that either 235/35 or 245/35 and 275/30 are the perfect fits for those rims..
Yes they are expensive but these the cheapest Apex wheels were still £2k..![]()

Nice, thats neat, practical and subtlesumotan said:Black with polish lip would look best or add rim protector to create a split contrast. This on my brothers Jag SVR

A good friend of mine is engineer for Michelin so he would not like your comment on the PS4Sbut would supports your Apex rims width with 235 or 245 front and 275 rear. He told me 235 are at the bottom of recommandations on 8.5" rims and 245 would be perfect. 275s on 9.5" ar perfect. It sounds like Michelin does not like or recommand strech at all.
He also supports the radius match front to rear though in my case on the E86 the DSC is not picky. I would like to push some 275/35's at the rear for the look and increased wall but they might not fit in there and I might loose precision.

Isn't that a step in the wrong direction with the ARC-8? Going from forged 19" wheels to cast sounds risky on UK roads.
