Broken springs ALL round!

Ok - I've been comtemplating Eibach springs for the Zed for a wee while now.. and after a spirited run today that ended badly (4" deep trench across the road + no signage + 80mph = three broken springs) I need to actually do this.

So... been googling and finding a lot of places that will sell them.. but I'm after any recommendations from peeps who have them, or have bought from others.

Also... how does the ride compare to the stock springs?

Wow, I'd check alignment also once you're done, and your wheels and tyres. That sort of impact can damage a lot more than springs.

sk93, long time no post :)

I had little to compare Eibachs to as both my rears were snapped when I bought my Z4, but the Eibachs rode very well. Most folk tend to agree with this as I'm sure they'll post.

Motorsportworld used to always be the cheapest for Eibachs but I don't know if that's still the case. ebay.de might be worth a try too.

Wheels and tyres are all amazingly fine.
Took them to my local, where we stripped off the tyres and examined the rims and found nothing untoward.
Tyres seem all fine too and we checked and rebalanced when we stuck them back on.
Looks like it's just the springs that went bang.

Already spoke to council, they're sending out some paperwork.
I've already taken photos of the "ditch" and the damage to the car, as well as getting a statement from the recovery truck guy that it it's impression that it could only be caused by the ditch, and that he also cannot find any signage etc.

But, like you say, it'll be long winded, and I want to get the car sorted :)

I know what you mean but you may get some compensation in the future after your zed is sorted.

Oh, I'm definitely claiming from the feckers, regardless how long it takes!

I would have a thorough check of all ancillary suspension components too to check no damage, sound like a nightmare :headbang:

Remember if anyone asks and it was an A Road you were only doing 60 :driving:
Glad to hear Russ has sorted you and welcome back to the fprum Sk

yeah.. done that after posting here.. had to get the back home and up in the air to do that.. local garage would have probably charged if I was there any longer lol.
all's fine and dandy.

I guess the springs were just old and tired and weren't gonna live up to that.
TBH.. kinda glad it was the springs rather than the top mounts or something worse :/

60? god no.. it was more like 40-50. Any faster and the wind would blow my hair in my eyes and that'd be dangerous!
;)

Cheers Inkey$!
