Broken rear springs

No need for spring compressors on the front, with standard or Eibach's. Remove the strut and disassemble, just take care, there is minimal spring tension as you take it apart. Easy job on the front, you need a mate and a bit of leverage on the rear. Def change the shocks/struts at the same time.

Thanks I've seen some decent prices for b12 (around 600-650) so seems a good deal. Any opinions of the set up would be much appreciated.

Link????

Link...

I've bought from here last month, great service and they do speak English, if needed.

Just as a disclaimer before someone jumps in, mine's an Alpina, not an ///M.

I had the B12 kit fitted last month, and also changed the top mounts at the same time - Rogue engineering at the back, and Compbrake at the front. I also had a 4 wheel alignment done, although I will get that redone after a few weeks after the springs have settled.

The difference between the OEM shocks and springs and the B12 kit is night & day. The roadholding is massively improved and alone is worth the investment. The ride is better (that is partially down to the age of the shocks) and the car has lowered slightly from the Alpina springs (although I don't believe its 30mm, its fairly close).

J Compbrake at the front.

How do you find these?????

Lovely looking piece of kit, comes with crap instructions/guides. Less forgiving than Lemforder/Meyle etc as they are milled aluminium with a bearing, and a complete PITA to adjust. Thought I would try them as I've heard conflicting stories on them; they seem to be a bit marmite. First impressions are they are probably a bit too harsh for just road use, but I'll keep them on for a few months and see how they go.

(link for anyone who hasn't seen them before)

What else could be replaced at the same time as suspension, thinking rear top mounts, anything else I should order?

On my car I've done:
Springs all round
Front top mounts
Front lollipop bushes

I have sitting in a box:
RTAB Bushes
RTAB limiters
Rear top mounts
Front suspension arms

I need to order Bilstein shocks.

I think that list is fairly comprehensive.

I was thinking about also adding the rear control arms, for more camber adjustment on your rear wheels - these are the ones I was considering. But agree with VRSteve's list above

I've recently done front trailing ark bushes, rtab with limiters and control arms look to be in good shape. So will do b12 kit with rear top mounts and cancel bmw warranty!

Some interesting info on the bilstein b12 kit for the z4m. A lot of forums say this comes with B8 shock, it does not for the z4m. It comes with B6 as a B8 shock is not made for the z4m. I was slightly alarmed when I received today however after talking to a few people and looking on the bilstein website its seems to be true.

Could someone please confirm if I missing something.

Btw it appears there is no damping / performance difference between the b6 and b8, the b8 only has a shortened piston for lowering more than 40mm (the eiback springs in the b12 kit only lower 10/20mm). just thought I'd share given the amount of incorrect info floating about.

Guys, whats the best way to take the top strut nut of? Would a swan head spanner and allen key be fine?

Also should that nut be tightened with the spring compressed or uncompressed?

Thanks
