But that's the point is doesn't matter what the volume of gas is, any temperature increase will give you the same increase in pressure, ergo there will not be any difference between the different diameter of wheel given the same temperature rise.

However the temperature increases inside the tyre because of the work done by the tyre, some of which is from the continuous deformation of the side wall, so a lower sidewall may actually reduce the heat generated.

Indeed :thumbsup: Plus the fact that you have more room to fit your brake disk and more room to play with the air flow, through the wheel rim and around the brakes. Should all help keep the temps down. Plus the wheel and tyre combo should be lighter, again reducing the amount of energy in the system. :)

I have read elsewhere: "The problem with a low sidewall height is that the amount of "flex" takes place over a shorter distance. This will cause heat build-up to increase at an exponential rate over a linearly decreased area. This means that a low profile tire will get much hotter due to "flex" and will waste significantly more energy." As such I've been thinking that the temperature may be different between the two different wheel/tyre types, where the low-profile tyre gets hotter.
