Breast implants

The French company (PIP) that supplied these has closed down and has no insurance, so no one to sue!
Most of these will have been paid for privately so it's up to the recipient to pay to have them changed, and certainly not the NHS!
 
I have to ask - are you affected by this Kryton ?

I would never trust a Frenchman with my breasts. If I had any... :?

No I'm not, I just think it's a wrong that the NHS are expected to now pay for something that was carried out on a private basis :) it should be self funded

Oh, ok - I thought from your post that the NHS wouldn't be paying - agree that my money shouldn't be used to correct privately funded problems :x
 
If you are diagnosed and it becomes necessary to remove a defective breast form then I have no problem for the NHS to pay for it, however if there is no medical need for this procedure, apart from "because I am fearful" then this should be done privately.

I see no difference in this philosophy than smoking, drinking, playing sports etcetera, basically doing anything that has health risks.

Maybe we should have extra tax on junk/convenience food to pay for the extra health burden.....we do on alcohol and smoking
 
I agree with sars if you have paid into the NHS then you should by virtue have treatment when required, otherwise everything would be subject to a court of inquiry have an accident where the possibility that you may have been speeding (and in fact braking the law) and therefore not entitled to emergency treatment on the basis that you knew the risks
 
I'm with Sars too. If it's emergency fair do. If it because you're scared something might go wrong, different story...

Duh :x :headbang: , French health system is way way better than that of Britain, just compare the deficits!

BTW thouthands of British women come to France to give birth for this very reason.

But otherwise it is wise not to trust franch men with breasts :rofl: and do take notice that most french women don't have much. Otherwise that company is un-ensureable against what its done.

I second that having spent a couple of weeks in a Tarbes hospital when I fell badly off a ladder last year - I remember the nurses telling me that some people even refuse to go home when they are better....can you imagine that happening in the UK?

But I agree with Kryton 100% - why should the NHS foot the bill for rectification of vanity surgery? I certainly wouldn't want to be an Essex Health Trust finance manager right now LOL :evil:
 
I feel the same as my OP for drunks, they should also be made to pay for the Ambulance and hospital cost!
and don't get me started on fatties and smokers.

The problem with society these days is that it's "always someone else's fault" and never the recipient's own actions, if it is they should pay, why should the rest of us have to bail these people out?

.......however some opinions have more value than others and whilst I respects Kryton's I do not agree with it.....it becomes a slippery slope when we decide that some emergencies are covered by the NHS and others are not.

Ah sir you were breaking the speed limit, 75 in a 70 sir and so you will have to pay for that ambulance and the six months in traction. Insurance you say, oh dear me sir, when you broke the law your insurance was void

Arguably drinkers and smokers pay a considerable amount of tax that (in theory at least) provides for NHS funding. And yes, I am a smoker :) Obesity is another matter because taxing food is a tricky area given you will end up penalising everybody, not just those who over-indulge.

As for the original post topic, I also agree with sars - if there is a medical reason why something needs removed and possibly replaced then the NHS is acceptable, and as Taz points out there are ocassions when implants are used for reasons other than vanity.

To ChawenHalo - just having a dig :poke: :D
 
and can i just put the record straight, i don't agree with everything sars says, for example: she thinks her car is better than mine, clearly she is just soooooooooooo wrong :)
