Brake pad sensor

Has anyone used an aftermarket front brake pad sensor ? do they work ok ? or would people recommend and genuine one ?

I have used Pagid sensors.
Not sure if they work completely as the pads are not used enough yet to trigger them.
Was able to reset the service interval though so are more than likely ok.
I did have a faulty Pagid sensor on my X6 though and it wouldn't let me reset the service interval, had to change it for another one.

Cheers Nictrix, I'll pop along to my local car part supplier and pick one up and try it.
Changed my discs and pads last week and sensor had been rubbing but not put light on, car was just showing front brake service light and now says 350miles but won't reset so I believe it's the sensor thats stopping me

Pagid ones work fine.

They are about £8 on ECP but only a couple of quid from auto doc. Auto doc charges postage though so it's only cheaper if you're buying a load of stuff.

Daft question does each corner have one as ecp sell them in one's
1 for the front set and 1 for the rear.
Thanks
Its probably done this way as under perfect circumstances all the front pads will wear at the same time so only one sensor is needed and same for the rears.
What the sensors dont account for is if any of the calipers are not operating correctly with one pad wearing quicker than others.

Well I put the new sensor on this morning and I still can't reset the service light. Took it to my mates and he plugged his snap on reader in to the car and that couldn't reset it either so it looks like I'll need to do some research into this to find out why.

This is the same thing that happened to my X6. I couldn't reset it and the garage couldn't either. Swapped the sensor and it reset first time.

Bit of a pain isn't it. this sensor was only a tenner so If I can't find out why it won't reset then I might have to see about a genuine sensor at £25

Once i had fitted sensors and got them reset i tied them up out of the way. Couldn't be doing with the hassle i had the last time i changed them and trying to reset them.
I will use the good old fashioned Mk1 eye ball.

I think I'm with you on this one, what a pain in the arse,

I had the same issue with mine it wouldn’t reset with either OBD port or with the stalk buttons, but with handbrake off and foot off brake they reset straight away

Lucky, i tried every combination, finally went to a indy that reset it for the cost of a couple of pints of beer.
Nothing wrong with the old Mini Metro system, brass stud that just shorted out on the disc.

This is what I like about these forums, there is normally always someone that has the right answer.

Cheers
