Brake Lights stay on after pedal released (engine running)

Result in on that other thread, it was fuse 14 that had blown causing brake lights to stay on apparently.

I've definitely checked all relevant fuses, some multiple times. I wish that were the problem. I think you may be onto something with the pressure sensor to the ABS motor. If I could find a pin layout/wire diagram for that specific plug, I could start shooting wires and mayb determine the exact input thats causing the issue.

Does anyone have the pin layout/wire diagram for the DSC/ABS (motor?)

I don't think you stand much of a chance dissecting that connector. It's more than likely the electronics inside the module. You could try somewhere like ECU testing to see if they could diagnose and repair - otherwise it might be a new ABS unit

I guess the brake light logic is somewhat more complicated than it was before CANBUS came along. I guess that makes sense as the Z4 can be programmed to have dynamic brake lights (which change depending on how hard the brake force is).

In the good old days it was just a switch on the brake pedal :headbang:

Try having a look and explore here https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e85-z4-3.0si-roa/wiring-functional-info/chassis-suspension/traction-control-system2/dsc-mk60/

If this is not your model work your way to the first page and select your vehicle from the list and explore that.

Think you need to rule out that DSC pressure sensor in the brake master cylinder, disconnecting it won't prove anything if its already bad, only way I know of testing it is to put a new one in and hope for the best result. Going to be cheaper than a new ABS pump.
It wouldn't surprise me if it acts in conjunction with the brake pedal switch as a back up to it, if its failed maybe stuck in brakes on mode hence the lights staying on, just a guess but worth a go before you go down the pump direction.
