No - no carrier in the picture. Here's a link to the OEM site which shows you the carrier in detail.

They are the brackets mate that fix the caliper to the hub assembly. Your pic has calipers, disks, pads and lines.
IIRC the calipers are quite expensive from new (for what they are) and places like Quarry moters et al are not usually keen to split from there brake kits. Good luck !

basically i've got some new calipers, but when i asked the guy if it had the carriers he didn't know what i mean and then after showing a few pics thought it might be on the whishbone with hub. so is it?...

thanks!

That's still only the caliper with pads.

If you notice where the bolts go through the caliper - i.e. where the shiny metal is showing - that's where the caliper attaches to the carrier.
Brakes002.jpg

A = brakepad wear sensor
B = bleed nipple
C = carrier guide pin/bolt
D = brake line
E = bolt attaching carrier to steering knuckle

A-D are all attached to the caliper in that picture. As you can see, the carrier is a separate element.

Yes, the bit in green is the carrier.

Can't say whether you need it or not as I don't know the context :P

the carriers are there then as I see it.

You're quite right.

My excuse is three-fold...1) the pictures are crap and there's so much rust I couldn't see what I was looking at, 2) my e34 M5 had a different type of assembly which mounted to another type of carrier/bracket on the EDC strut/hub, 3) I was supposed to be working at the time so only glanced at the pictures on my iPod with it's tiny screen.

Peddy the carrier is clearly shown in your second photo with the 2 shiny rings where the mounting bolts were fitted

For my SI front brake upgrade. :D

I was pretty sure they were there after comparing the 4 pictures with realoem, but with the previous people saying no to the first picture and the fact that the person dismantling the car didn't know what a brake carrier was I had to double check.
