Apex ARC-8 9.5" square setup.

Ooh, nice, that's exactly what I have been looking at, what colour have you chosen?

Cup'2s or Ns2-r's? Cup 2's are coming in at 900 and the Ns2r's are coming in at £500

Or middle ground of Ad08r?

It looks like they have stopped doing the 'track' compound of NS2R, but I am happy enough with the street version anyway. I'm sure that the Cup 2's will be quicker and based on feel and lap time Tom says the AD08R are quicker than the NS2R. For me I'll stick to the NS2R, the saving is substantial when wearing them out quickly. :)

I went with satin black... The reason for this is the pic I have attached... With my phoenix gold calipers all round it just looks so right to me! ofcourse being a coupe it will be even better

How much life do you get out of the NS2R's Dave? a few trackdays? I dont really plan to do many road miles other than to SPA & the ring.

Adam

of course being a coupe it won't be as much fun in the summer
:P

I haven't done a trackday for over a year now, but my first set lasted a 'Ring trip, drift day and four or possibly five UK trackdays plus a few thousand road miles. By the end they were VERY low on tread.

Haha! Love a bit of banter!

That's a lot more than I expected to be honest. How do you find the road noise on them? That's what really puts me off.. a long drive with a horrible drone makes me think its worth paying the extra... the cups are actually quieter than the Super sports!

Are you on the 120 or the 180's?

Do not, I repeat, do not buy the 120s, they lasted about 2 months for me. The 180's fair a lot better but having switched to AD08r recently I'd say they are a way better tyre, for enjoyment, speed and durability. Pay your money take your choice etc, but in this case I will certainly have saved money by buying the more expensive tyre, not that was my biggest consideration.
I'm keen too to try the cup2 or trofeo r, but not too keen on smoking that amount of cash either

Ah yes, I forgot you mentioned the AD08 are wearing well Tom. I'm looking at doing a trackday in January I should think which should finish off the tyres ready for a fresh set.

Well that happened quickly....

Great work Adam! So much in such a short time. I'd like the CSL alignment myself, thanks for that. Look forward to seeing the car in person soon.

Wow! That's impressive
Well jell of your shiny diff :D Did you re-finish the cross members and chassis support, they look great too!
Let us know how you get on at Bedford on monday (?), interested to see if that set up rubs on full load?
Did you get the thing corner weighted? What did it come in at?

That looks superb, really menacing. What's with the funky mirrors, they seem to bend a different way to mine?

Fantastic. Love the rear subframe and transmission freshen-up. :)

What’s the story with the custom KW front spring? Did you go back to linear?

Thanks, Yeah I had it all powder coated while it was off.

I'll keep you updated, I'm pretty confident I wont get any rubbing... I'm running a 5mm hubcentric spacer to keep the tyre away from the spring perch - It fits without but there is less than a 1.5mm of clearance with a 265 tyre.

I have not had it corner weighted, Would you recommend this?

Thanks Dave, I find that if you tilt them forwards when you wash the car they don't hold water and it all drips out without running down the door!

As the V3 spring is conical, you actually loose clearance with them, so working with Apex we matched the spring rate as close as we could and ran a shorter spring to give maximum clearance, also running a 60mm linear spring we are able to run the Race ground force top mounts with loads of caster and camber adjustments.

Looks great.
I was thinking more about the wings rubbing rather than the inners, but sounds like you've thought it through well enough. Let us know. On the one hand I'm keen to run a square setup for obvious reasons, but the other worries about loss of steering feel and the effect on the rack. Most of the 'cheapo' new mclarens run a 225 front section tyre I think, albeit a very different car I do wonder whether the ability to rotate tyres and perhaps provide greater front grip is outweighed by the negatives. Keen to see how you find it..
As for corner weighting, well given you now have the ability to do it and were setting up the suspension, personally I would have done it, but hardly the end of the world, you can do that some other time.
