Bought a Z4 35is

The used values are bound to plummet because of the brand new deals available. Who's going to pay high £20's for used when brand new is £32/33k?

Not surprised OP wants to improve the performance of a 35iS, coming from a 911 C2S! Must be one of the best sports cars around at present. Quite a hard act to follow i would imagine.

After taking the car out for a drive today I now understand that its not going to be a good idea to put more power into it, as others have said it can only just put down the power it has now forget about any more.

This is the issue I had. I have ruined many a good car trying to squeeze more out when it just doesn't suit it. I think the 35iS is one of those - the difference being I will leave it alone and enjoy it for what it is ... a hugely fast but not supercar fast means of having fun !

But for high 20s you get goodie loaded usually but for 32/33k new you get jack all and would have to put at least 10-11k if not more in some cases to get a similar spec. Each to their own though.

Plus as they are stopping building them from next month and only 224 currently registered at last count in the UK they aren't exactly all over the place. Infact there is 969 Z4Ms coups and roasters on the roads in the UK and a further 58 SORN so whilst people say about the M values being held by the small production numbers there are a lot less of the 35is and there won't ever be lots and lots for sale at any one time unless we all decide to chop them in at the same time.

Which could make it rarer than the revered 1m coupe. Think there are 300 odd registered in the uk and they are holding their value. Also the zed has a quicker 0-60!

By the end of the year we will know how many are registered in the UK the figure of 224 is the figure for quarter 1 so until 31st March 2014, which was an increase of 14 cars since 31st December 2013 and it was an increase of 14 car prior to that. It may well hit 300 odd but possibly not given that the offer is running from June to September, along with a stop in production.

Thought I would jump in on this one as I was couldn't resist temptation back in April this year. My comments may tempt a few more to take the plunge??

Swapped my 2011 23i M-Sport (Highline) for one of the 35is cars that were being offered on the BMW website. There were 5 or 6 high spec Valencia Orange 35is cars for sale with low mileage all registered by BMW and used for promo work. My car was registered in July 2013 but had only 13 miles on the clock when I picked it up!! Building the car on the BMW configurator to the same spec came out at £51500 (way toooo expensive). I Paid a little over £35000!!

Car has now done 5000 miles due to long road trip to Europe (2850 miles) in July. Averaged 36mpg with some steady motorway runs and some spirited driving on a number of alpine passes.

Likes: Almost everything! The colour (WOW!!!) - noise - ride quality (adaptive suspension in normal mode is much more refined than 23i was) - fun factor and "popping" exhaust in sport mode - very few 35is around!! Dislikes: Not a lot but I'd like it to be a little less thirsty on short trips (22/23mpg) but what the hell!!!

If anyone gets the chance to get into a 35is - take it! Its a totally brilliant car!! Once I work out how to do it I'll get a picture up as it looks Ab-Fab in Valencia Orange.

You're right. Better roads (I think) on the continent but couldn't believe the difference in the 35is than in the 23i. Much more comfortable and smooth. Real plus in the E89 as with the roof up its a very classy tourer.

Surely you mean stopping taking orders for them, I hope, as my 35is I've just ordered is not being built till late December for January delivery.

I've only read on here that production is being stopped. I have no idea where that started as I have not seen it anywhere else.
