Bought a hardtop

Woke up at 4:00am - neither of us can sleep so decided to get up and make an early start. I will miss the full English but we may as well set off and beat some of the Friday traffic. It took us 7 hours to get down here (with 2 stops) - the rain at times was biblical, hail stones thunder lightning caused motorway traffic to slow to 30mph at times! Well hunted out. It looks good, black over red, nice combo. And for a DD I can see the attraction, esp with that rain.
 
A black hardtop is always going to work as, in essence, it just looks like a harder/shiner version of the ragtop - that's why the black ones are so popular. I've seen a couple that have been wrapped in carbon fibre and they look brilliant as the CF gives them a bit of texture
 
How are you going to navigate without having the stars available anymore? :lol:

:D Its a little strange to think when its on I can't have the open top experience at the push of a button. Not quite sure how we're going to juggle the hardtop and the sunny weather. Drove back from Dorset in all kinds of rain (and sun) - it feels good not to be worrying about he soft top when its chucking it down. The hardtop is coming off tomorrow though - its a sunny forecast here. (Hope it fits in the shed :? )

Mine only goes on in the winter but I wouldn't have a Z (or any other convertible) without it as an option was something I made sure I checked before I bought my Z that I could get one

I was lucky when I purchased the car last October it came with a hardtop love the look when it's on.

We are back home after staying overnight. The seller isn't a forum member but asked for the link to the forum, so he may make an appearance - who knows :wink:

Cheers mate, it will probably be on all winter - possibly taken off for the odd clear weekend. Now its a DD I feel it will be more secure in the works car parks on dark winter nights too.
 
Well back home.
What a mammoth 2 days - 560 mile round trip, 7 hours there and 7 hours back. Would have been easier if it hadn't been two of the wettest days this summer :!:
Worth it though. Used about £86 of V-power petrol and managed an average of 41.5 mpg on the journey down (that was with Mway sections of stop starting too). Pic was after 200 miles, but it stayed at that figure for the rest of the trip.

That has now dropped to 38mpg after a rather spirited drive home (I blame the hardtop weight - nothing to do with my speed :oops: )

No worries Marlon, you can store it at smartbear towers in Chelmsford-should only take you a few hours to drop it off :D
