Boris is back

If he makes a quicker recovery at Chequers then given that he is the PM to me going there seems the sensible option.

The sooner he can get back in charge the better.

Mind you I've been quite impressed by Dominic Raab in Boris' absence.

Chequers is not a holiday home. It's a place of work. Effectively a different office for him to do his job for.

Bit ignorant to try and decry him for trying to keep working whilst getting over a life threatening illness.

Ignorant for having an opinion?

Up until this point I was very impressed with the fact that two pages of discussion had occurred so well. Wildly differing opinions, but each allowed to make a point without being personally attacked for it. Everyone respecting each other's stance and putting forward polite and reasoned arguments for and against.
I really thought the lessons of other threads had been learnt.
Then the use of one word - ignorant - and the whole thing is poised to topple into another pointless tirade.

Please can we all ignore that single word and note that it was typed in the middle of the night and potentially didn't get as much thought as it otherwise may have done.

Move on with the intelligent and adult discussion as though that input never happened.

Thank you.

The internet will always be like real life, where intelligent adults (and otherwise) will disagree with and dislike other people's opinions, and they'll voice that :)

Anywhere he’s happiest to recover is where he should be imho, he’s grafted his backside off so far, no none can deny his commitment to the job wether they agree with him or not, it’s a hell of a job and who would want it so personally I can’t see any problem with it at all, he can’t just say “Ah the hell with it I’ve had a belly full of work, I’m taking a few weeks off” if he wants to when he’s back, once he’s back he’s back and there’ll be no let up, so I really don’t see why he shouldn’t have a little chill out where he’s happiest. Sooner he’s fit again the sooner he’s back to the front.

Govt seems to be functioning ok with the current crew in charge even In these unprecedented times - could it be that Cummins is out of the frame and the elected officials are being more allowed / unhindered to show themselves properly?

Totally agree. .

You obviously wouldn’t be happy no matter what Boris did Ron.

Rob

Im afraid you couldn't be more wrong!

My opinion would be equally applied to anyone in that position - All I suggest is that the rule makers are seen to be abiding by the rules they make.

I think you’re twisting this for your own ends, number 10 is where the prime minister stays while at work.
He’s just got out of intensive care as you know, now he’s not at work & needs to recover. Downing st isn’t the place for that as it’s his work place. It’s not his “holiday home” as you put it, it’s available for every pm and doesn’t belong to Boris.
Rob
He does have his own real home in London though im sure?
Not that i really care, if Id have just come out of intensive care I'd rather take a few days to recover in a country home, but I do see Ronks point

To be fair to Ronk on the surface he is quite right Boris should be at home and not escaping to some other location (exactly as charlie the Royle did :telloff: ) however I think there might be a misunderstanding in terms of circumstance here.

Boris typically lives at No 10 and my understanding is that his London flat was sold in 2019 however to be fair, while grand, No 10 is more of an office than a house, with cabinet meetings etc being held there amongst a swathe of other Government business, I am willing to accept that it is not the best environment for anyone to recover plus there will be the temptation to just pop his head into said meetings etc which is not recovering. Unlike Charlie's escape to Scotland I dont begrudge Bojo going to Chequers.

Just because I'm feeling pedantic...................... Boris doesn't reside at No 10 anyway, it's a flat over No 11.
Sorry, feeling grumpy as I should have landed on the Red Sea coast of Egypt about 3 hours ago!

You are quite right! Apparently the N11 flats are larger, I think May was the first one to do that?
