Boot won't stay closed (lock problem)

I trapped a pizza from Sainsbury’s in my boot lock the other night and now it wont close. I can here the motor is working (solenoid?) but the actual catch/lock wont close so my boot wont stay shut or secure.

A search threw nothing up here. I found one post on another site suggesting it may be a small spring I have broken which may be fixable. Otherwise it is a new lock.

My questions are:
Anyone else had this?
Is the lock/catch thing off other models? If it is I may be able to get one off ebay and swap just the lock/catch part and keep my own motor/solenoid.

Thanks

Nargh - never trapped a pizza in the boot so can't help, nor did I know that Sainsbury's fitted small springs in their pizzas. At least since the boot open you were able to get it out and eat :)

Seriously though I think yuo just have to take the locking mechanism out, clean it up and see if anything is broken or justgunged up.

I need a bit of direction in getting the lock out. Have taken off the access panel and the three retaining bolts for the lock and it is now loose (hanging through the access panel), have unpluged the electrical connection but can't fathom how to uncouple the wire that pulls the lock open so I can remove it completely from the car and dismantle it.

Anyone done this before?

Got the lock out, took it apart, could find nothing wrong with it – lock was firing as it should, no broken spring as I had expected to find. Refitted it and it wouldn't work? The latch bar had moved! Two bolts and 5 minutes at most to sort out if you forget about the 1.5 hours getting the lock out, taking it apart and refitting it! Anyway fixed now and in the database should anyone else suffer the same thing.
