Boot Size on Z4 Roadster

Hi, Im interested in buying a Z4 convertible most likely a 2008 2.0 SE or Sport, all the information Ive found shows the boot sizes in litres but I wondered if anyone knew or could tell me the dimensions in mm or cm... w/d/h type thing - also the loading space, I believe the access on the boot is narrower?

Litres is useful but It doesnt really help you work out what you can fit in it!

Hope someone can help me!

Thanks

PJ

Very good space, I fit a buggy and several bags in, easily do a weeks shopping trip.. I had boxster before and the back is bigger, although the boxster had the front bit too. Anyhow you take a look on parkers.co.uk and check out some pics

Hi, thanks for the reply... basically I carry a small amount of stuff during the week for work (laptop and bits) but at the weekend I carry an exhibition case in a bag that measures 86cm wide, by 40cm high, by 40 cm deep...

Would this fit?

Thanks

Hi,

Not sure if it would fit but have you thought about popping down to your local dealer to check? Friend was able to do this with a few 3 series and I must say Sytner were very helpful.

I think you will be very lucky if you can fit in the 86x40x40 case TBH.

Length would be OK. You may well struggle with the height and depth, unless the bag has a bit of a "squishy" nature.

Head down the the dealers and get the to try one one. You can test drive one whilst you're there

Hi everyone, thanks for your help

Just been having another look for 'official measurements' so to speak... really wierd, its like its never been done!

Out of interest, does anyone use theirs as an everyday driver, hot, cold, dry wet etc?

Yes do around 25k a year in mine, was bit of a pig in the snow but thats to be expected.

You be surprised at what can fit in the boot, never had trouble with it yet. done some decorating last weekend and brought a wallpaper pasting table which went in no problem. remember these is no spare wheel so the boots pretty big for a roadster

Mine's a daily driver, all year round. Many of ours' are. This winter it'll be running winter tyres... didn't stop for the snow in the winter just gone with the standard tyres.

Not sure about the dimensions exactly, but I can fit a set of golf clubs across the back of the boot (with the drivers taken out)... I can actually get one set across the back and another at an angle across the boot. Space it pretty decent.

I'll try and remember to measure the golf bag tomorrow (its in the office) if no-one comes up with anything better in the mean time.

Thats good to know, Id probably be doing roughly the same mileage. I have to admit it seems like a really practical car and doesnt bleed you dry on petrol either..

Hi Pawn thank you for that.. if anyone gets a chance to pop out with a tapemeasure and give a definitive answer that would be brilliant!

Hi,

I contacted BMW before I bought my coupe and received the following measurements:

A - Width at rear of boot at widest point -135cms

B - Width in boot where indent for suspension struts is located (narrowest point) -92cms

C - Height of boot against rear seats -39cms

D - Width of boot at widest point inside (bumper side) -135cms

E - Depth of boot -70cms

F - Height of boot at rear of boot (bumper side) -35cms

These measurements were taken from an actual car they had in storage so they should be pretty accurate. I know the coupe's boot is a little different to the roadster but it should give you a good idea.

Hope this helps

Simon

I work away from home and can get a holdall of similar dimensions to those you mention in the boot plus a laptop rucksack and toolbox with room to squeeze in few small smaller items around the sides.

I would suggest if it is a soft bag you stand a chance, if it's rigid I would doubt it would fit. But do as suggested take the bag to dealer and try, Lloyds in Carlilse have agreed to allow me to try to get my stuff in the new Zed, if they think they will get a sale out of it they will do it.

What have you got to lose.

Hi Simon, thats brilliant thank you very much. Im guessing the sizes wont be far out - although there will be a bit because of the roof

Its bigger than I thought!

I average 350 to 400 miles a tank, all depends on how fast you :driving:

I can get a fairly large size case in the boot with no trouble. alongside a smaller weekend case on it's side.

I have just measured it: 78cm long, 45cm deep and 32 cm high, height can be expanded but not by much... I would say 40cm high would be a big struggle.

Best to go along a try.

we can fit enough for a two weeks touring holiday in without too many troubles though :though:

Thanks guys, its one of those stupid annoying problems.. Id love one but if you cant carry your stuff its not good! Will definitely see if I can pop in and take a look. Thinking about it, I could give it the old 'I was just driving past' with the case in my car and try it

The biggest thing I've had in my boot (whey!) is a very full cricket bag and that was a very tight squeeze.

The boot on the z4 is fantastic. I test drove an mx5 before going for the zed (yes, I know! ) and compared to that the boot is bloody massive!

Mine is a daily driver too - not too bad on petrol. Approximate 300 miles out a tank with town/busy motorway driving.
