I've been looking at this BMWhat app for a quite a few months and waiting for the developer to implement the coding for the Z4. Other BMW models have been up and running for a while.
Well now is the Zed's turn and coding is now built in. I only have the free lite version which is just for testing of compatibility but GM5 and the LSZ modules can now be programmed in the full program as well as error codes checked and erased etc. The price is £38.53 which is expensive for an android app but if you want your soft top to close by the fob etc it is quite a small price compared to a dealer I suppose.
You will need a usb cable obdII adapter and probably a USB otg adapter to talk to the car for your phone/tablet. It has Bluetooth compatibility but not for coding on the zed.
It certainly feels a quality app and will put this on my birthday pressie wish list next month even though I have the BMW suite of laptop progs.
