BMWCCGB Zedfest, 20 – 22 July 2012, Silverstone Circuit

Will the display area be on hard standing? Is it too late for us to come along?? The discount code has now finished so if we buy tickets will we be able to join the rest of the Zeds? :(

Display area for us is grass I believe, hard standing if the weather wrecks it. For tickets you need to PM myredzed who started the thread

Late to this and I lack the will power to read 35 pages of thread.

Is it worth buying a ticket in advance pick it up on the gate and spend Saturday there or am I just going to spend 6 hours queuing in and out and the rest walking from some god forsaken car park?

Anyone else going from my neck of the wood?

Ps any news on parking - is it a boggy mess with tow trucks on standby?
Yes, and it's good news! This is a repost from another forum where someone contacted one of the organisers directors. This was his response from a couple of days ago.

Thank you for your enquiry about the Silverstone Classic

I have spent the day on site at Silverstone reviewing the situation there

The British Grand Prix is an extremely large event with an audience of 125,000 on the Sunday alone, with most of them on the outfield. The Classic is growing, but not yet that large, with a total audience over the weekend of around 80,000, and with most people and most activities taking place on the infield. There are sufficient hard standing car parks to deal with our requirements. The infield has not been affected badly by the weather or the crowds, and there is no reason to believe that the Classic could be cancelled.
There are a few puddles here and there, which may result in a few classic car displays being moved position, but we believe the event will almost completely take place as planned.

Proof positive!

Hi Stuart. The weather is going to change for this show, lots of sun so
dont forget your suntan lotion.
Looking forward now to meeting up with all and intend to enjoy the show. Even Adam Ant..
Only three sleeps to go.

Sorry, have to beg to differ, see below.

UPDATE - PLEASE READ IF ATTENDING ZEDFEST 2012!

To make sure you dont waste time getting into the correct entry area, please study the "Car Club Infield Display " information sent with your ticket and windscreen car park area sticker.

Enter as shown through car park 49, signed on Left side before roundabout. Allow time to get through the coned lanes, until the Ticket Check. Once clear, proceed to T Junction and turn Right. After 100 Mtrs on Left side note sign BMWCCGB to turn LEFT into our Display area.

Please pay attention to the Club's HiViz Marshals, and take direction to colour coded parking areas:

Z1 - Green
Z3 Roadster/Coupe - Red
Z4 Roadster/Coupe - Blue

Please look out for individual signs in these areas for Model types as requested by a number of owners.

In view of the weather conditions suffered at the parking areas, please ensure YOU drive slowly on our grass display area at all times, and treat OUR Marshals with Respect at all times - remember, they are trying to help you to enjoy this event.

It probably goes without saying but just to make sure - be CAREFUL when you open your doors to ensure that you don't ding the adjacent car.

...and do try and park in a straight line, it looks so much better on the photos :D

Thanks for your understanding and let's have a great zedfest!

I read this, and the update from Silverstone above, as meaning they have hard standing for if the grass is fecked.

Bloody Hell Bing, rain on my parade why don't you. P1ss on my bonfire too if you like!

Sorry Stuart - better to be warned now than have an arguement with their marshals about where YOUR hard standing area is though :D

Should I put the winter tyres back on for a bit more grip on the wet grass?! (probably shouldn't have taken them off thus summer anyway!)

I wouldn't dream of letting my Z turn up to this in it's equivelant of big comfy period knickers :o

Frak me, reading this akmost makes me consider packing my snow chains.

R we a bunch of northern softies, think not. Whatever happens this weekend, am sure we will make the best of it, come rain or shine & those organising it need our support, not our winging.

Am looking forward to it, so let's help those organising it as much as possible, remembering most of these people aren't doing it for the money but for the love of being like me, a pure petrol head.

Sadly I can't make it now, had a knee operation yesterday and now can't drive for at least 2 weeks.
Pretty gutting, hope everyone has a fab time. :)
