Haven't 100% decided, but TBH I think the decision will be to do it whilst keeping lots of distance from the car in front and a wary eye behind. It's almost the whole point of going after all...

+1 I booked the tickets for this experience. I guess if someone breaks the rules and runs into me I can always lawyer up. I'm surprised one of the more enterprising insurance companies hasn't offered a group deal. Anyone on here work in insurance and want to do a bit of "possibility thinking" with their boss?

Now that's a good idea right there

I guess the other reason for me doing it anyway is that Wee Bing would never forgive me if I let an alien concept (such as insurance) get in the way of HIS main reason for going

UPDATE - INCORRECT V-PASS RESOLUTION

The BMWCCGB is aware that there are a couple of anomalies regarding printed V-passes (missing V-pass, incorrect area, incorrect vehicle reg). If you are a victim of this then please contact me by pm and we will resolve the issue. You need to pm me by 20:00 on Sunday 14 July to give the club a chance to get each individual issue resolved however I would urge you to contact me right away if there's a problem with your V-pass.

Note that the last batch of passes to be issued are being hand-written - if you have a problem with one of those then the Silverstone organisers have said they will accept minor corrections to manually written passes, e.g. if a digit is missed off or it's in the wrong order. If it's completely wrong or missing then follow the advice for printed passes i.e. contact me by pm by 20:00 on Sunday 14 July.

How about this idea - form a rolling road block in the shape of a 'Z' as illustrated below, where each 'Z4' noted below is a car... our version of the Roman square, with the [Z4] in brackets being the pace & position car for the group.

If this is supposed to be a parade lap, then having a shape in the form of a group is going to deter overtakers, safety in numbers (pun intended) & maybe even more of an attention grabber

Version 1|
---------------------------
---------------------------
----Z4----[Z4]----Z4----
---------------------------
---------------Z4---------
---------------------------
----------Z4 -------------
---------------------------
----Z4-----Z4-----Z4----
---------------------------
---------------------------

Maybe the advanced class might consider this as well...
---------------------------
---------------------------
----------------[Z4]------
---------------------------
----------Z4----Z4-------
---------------------------
----Z4-----Z4-----Z4----
---------------------------
|-----------------Z4-------| |
---------------------------
---------------------------

Frigging nightmare to organise, though might look quite cool if we get the colours right... maybe even dedicated Coupe / Roadster 'squares'... endless possibilities

Whilst I empathise with the sentiment I'm afraid that doing something like this is just not going to be possible. We must abide by the Silverstone Chief Display Marshal's direction (which will mandate lines/rows) and recognise that there will be circa 250 - 300 zeds to get on the track in a relatively short space of time (lunch break in the racing programme). There'll be some guidance ref parade lap organisation going out shortly - just waiting on some final clarification points, watch this space!

I'm more than happy to take the risk of doing the parade lap without insurance (I'm with Admiral). If it was a 'race' there's no chance but for a parade, no problem. If something happens - something happens; I'm not wrapping myself in cotton wool 24/7. :driving:

Those of us with 20K/30K cars however might feel a touch differently... For me, I'll make the decision on the day, if its crap weather likely not, if the weather is ok to good, then I may risk it..

I bet my lowly £6k car is as precious to me as your £30k one is to you. I'd certainly understand if anyone didn't want to risk it but to me it's the whole point of going.
