BMW UK useless.

Hi
Just picked up my Z4 2.5i M-Sport 10 plate 3 days ago.
This comes with full bluetooth connectivity for iphone and itunes through radio and no sat navigation,so why does the 3.5 require the sat upgrade?
Are you sure the dealer hasn't cocked up with the order to bmw and now trying to get you to pay for their cock up?

Why?

Is your Z4 bonnet bigger than mine?

I noticed i'm not the only newbie on this particular forum post so what is the problem?

Mongoose

I think you misunderstood the post from AlanJ. Anyone can post in any thread (no matter what size their bonnet is!). What he meant was that it is usual to post in the Newbies section just by way of introduction. You will inevitably get asked for details and a photograph of your Z4. In return you will get any number of welcomes.

Welcome to the forum and I look forward to reading your introduction in the Newbies section.

Are you sure the bluetooth was available without the satnav when you ordered the car? I wanted to have connection when I ordered my 30iS back in November of last year and was told that I needed to have satnav installed for everything to work! I ended up getting a Parrot mki9100 with a Parrot unika so as to have the steering wheel controls from John Kleis in Reading (about £320.00). It is impotant to know if it was possible, as if not your dealer is at fault he should do something about it! Dealers do make mistakes and mine was no exception as he forgot to order the pdc when I revised my order the day after signing - he had the pdc retro fitted in the dealership (excellent job) and did not charge a bean.

Well you see my 2009 23i has bluetooth, usb and a power socket in the armrest and I don't have nav. When I ordered the 35iS I asked for the same but was told to take the connectivity package as it was cheaper and had "bluetooth audio streaming" as well. This allows you to play music from your phone via bluetooth but now needs the nav system to work. So you have to order bluetooth phone pre separate but BMW factory ordering system seemed to throw the toys out of the pram at this request.

This is where all the confusion comes from and I called BMW CC to try and find a solution and get to the bottom of this but the guy on the phone didn't seem to want to know. Infact he knew it all and was infact wrong himself. Plus the SA3 system at the dealers was screwed up which added to the confusion.

So to sum up.

Connectivity package that includes "bluetooth music audio streaming" needs nav. Bog standard "make a phone call bluetooth" does not. BMW themselves don't know the difference (well they do now  ).

Strap some semtex and a pull string to you waist. Spray some water on face and under arms, then walk into the show room. Everybody will listen to you and you get the car you want.
