In the 2 years I've owned my car it's never been near a BMW dealer (touch wood, no problems and only servicing needed). Experience has taught me a good indi is always far better at the job than a main dealer and a damn sight cheaper too!!

As these cars get older, you'll start see to more parts come up on ebay as more are written off. Since I bought mine there's so much more on there. The only thing this wont help you with is the lights, as pre facelift clear indicator headlights are rare as rocking horse......
