Rag to riches, sorry, rag top to tin. Had 3 rags and now in the tin, and I must say all 3 rags 2.5 are no way in the same era as my 3.0 tin. I wont let anyone have a go at the old model, but the tin is way better,
It still shocks me opening the boot with it down, and I do need to close and open when getting in the boot shopping, but the boot is very practical, even with the top going down. with both I can get 2 suitcases 20Kg each for my 4 hols a year.
With the rag, I had a hard top and for 6 months never went topless. such a job making sure the rag is not damp when getting the top on and needed 2 people to get it on. Now im topless much more often and have a bit more room in the garage.
Going back to rag is going back to rags, would not put me off but unsure why they would. pitting against the porker is not what its about, I have looked and had one on 24hr test drive and nearly purchased one, but we are not in the same price bracket for like for like.
For me servicing and locality of repair is like half a day off work for the proker, while bmw pick up my bmw from work and drop it back off. boot space what boot space in the porker, its also noisy on a long drive with rear engine pounding you, and the roof is quite hard to drop, massive handle and yuou need to start it off by hand. The wife actually said there is little difference when in it compared to the Z4
so unpractical, noisy, costly service and repair, and need a larger outlay. Looking forward for my 5th z4 will be made next march for me to snap up in Sept.
For note my last one had to have a new roof, the hard top rubbed on the sloth and damaged it, was replace under wty, however took them 3 attempts to sort it, first time not enough time to fit, 2nd time found it was the wrong colour, the last they had it for 2 weeks, the membrane was damaged after they fitted it so yet another one was needed.
