Thinking if black roll hoops would work on my black car :? , have covered them in black tape to get an idea but can't decide, anyone got any pictures, whats the opinion ????

The M version comes with black hoops. Up close I think they look better than the silver version. Driving a few car lengths behind a roadster (ie. what others see) with the top down, I much prefer the silver ones.

JackB1, Nice to hear from you! You were definitely missed at Homecoming this year Jack. Hope all is well in your world.

if you can take the hoops off(if i remember it's near impossible without breaking the clips)

just paint them... I used a paint for the interior to match the 05+ black interior and it looks great. I am sure it would look good on the hoops too being matte black finish.

so HOW do we take out the hoops lol mine's got scratchess

Thanks Greg! I really enjoyed all you guy's phone calls from HC each day! You kept me involved in an event that I have really grown to enjoy!

The final move went great. We drove down to Gainesville, FL in the rain. Loaded our pickup and uhaul with the last of our items. We gave the house a final GI cleaning and even had it shown by a realtor while we were there. "Good vibes" about our house selling! Drive back too 16 hours instead of 12 due to constant rain. We were too worn out after unloading to get back in the car the next day and drive to HC. Our thought were with you all.

We have a whole new Zcar group here in Little Rock and the rest of Arkansas. Debby and I had lunch today with Dave & Dana Lisk, our ARK/MO ZSCCA rep. We look forward to joining them on their rides. You and I need to plan a "meet-in-the-middle" and drag along as many other Zcars as we can!!!

I will write a seperate DIY post on how to load a Z4 on a UHaul trailer - took several pics!

You bring up a good option - glad you brought it up!

I found a post a while back in French or German with the following picks - I do not take credit for them!
(As an "orphan" of Z4-UM, I learned to save helpful Z4 mod or fix posts or make hard copies or scan.
Here are the pics -

The other option I have considered is covering with OEM leather (Beige for me) as the Z8s do. Jon at LeatherZ might get the right leather for this.

Sorry you brought it up? Too much information? Glad to share what I have!

P.S. - Don't be surprised if this gets moved to the HOW TO / DIY Discussion!

they look like they'd break if i tried to take them apart... lol

That's why I haven't done mine yet!

Options -

Paint - paint will likely rub off as my soft top liner touches as I put top up and down. Not so bad as to allow the dealer to start messing with it though. Does not wear the fabric but might rub off the paint. Good part - with good masking, it could be painted without removal. Use the correct paint for plastic and do a light sand with fine sandpaper - clean surface very good.

Buy new - Best option! But no one has come up with the correct numbers for the black plastic hoop covers on the Z4M non-x-leather. This would be the ideal choice. Then it is OK if the originals break.

Cover with leather - "Timscuba" says to be careful not to use too thick leather - he had a time covering his hoops - his looks great but wasn't easy! I would think that Jon at LeatherZ could locate matching leather to the OEM as the leather on my arm rest and door pads from them look real close. Z8s have their hoops covered in the same color as their interior color. This would be more individual than painted black!

can't see red roll hoops working to be honest.......

I like the galvanized steel that is under the plastic myself....maybe I'll take the plastic off....

I quite like that actually, I think it is the chrome rings at the bottom of the hoops that make the difference. Looks smart!!

So - should I leave my hoops Grey (Silver?) or paint them Black?

Or - should I cover my hoops in Beige leather as seen on the Z8 interior?

Decisions, decisions!
