Bimmercode bought.

Purchased the app and ethernet to Iphone, obd to ethernet cables and tried it out this morning.

Mainly bought for deactivating the stop/start function which I hate so now have that set to remember last setting at start up.

Bit disappointed in the app tbh, does not do a great deal really but hey ho. Was hoping I could code to move the seat back for entry, then return but that function is not available. Also hoped to get boost pressure showing, but again not available. Why it is not already there on a turbo amazes me.

Changed the petrol warnings to come on a bit later and couple of minor things on instrument cluster/idrive screen.

Anyone got any other suggestions? Not bothered about seat temps etc.

I just used it to code the retro fit paddle shifters to my f23 saves me going to my independent to get it done I have carly app got it before they brought in the annual subscription but still can’t do everything I want to.

Just checked, android only.

Yes..but..

I'm a 100% apple app household..

I just bought a ruggedised android phone for £85 and keep it in the car dedicated for Protool..its the best by far smart phone app for E89 and G29s (plus most other F nd G types)

So, what does it do that bimmercode doesn’t?

Protool is almost a full house BMW diagnostic and programming tool..far broader range of programming, repair, coding, diagnostics, data logging..

If you want to just toggle a few folding mirrors / indicators then bimmrcode is ok, its a Carly class device..

If you want something that can get further into the car then you need an ISTA / Protool class product..

I've had almost all of them and ended up with Protool..

I'd break something lol.

That is the flip side..the good news is that with Protool if you break it you can ask it to simply re-code it back to factory spec..

I messed around with the FRM module that I was having saturday night fever disco lights on the rear end everytime I braked..

Pressed code orginal and voila ..all back to how the factory intended..

Anyway enjoy your purchase

I would mess the car up.

What can it do on the g29? Stop start doesn’t bother me as I’m always in sport anyway. ;)

I bought Bimmercode plus an OBD scanner purely to switch off that horrible artificial exhaust sound and killed the stop start facility whilst I was at it

Do we have the artificial exhaust sound then, can't say I've been aware of it but 40 odd years on bikes has left me a bit deaf.

I'll have a look in the app and see if I can turn it off.

I take it it's the active sound deactivation?

If you are a real sad bunny you can even load other versions of the fkae soundtrack...make it sound like a 4 pot or 8 pot

I used Bimmercode to turn off ASD. Doing so also decreased volume from the rear speakers. To balance the sound for listening to music the fade must be set to almost completely shut off the front speakers. I coded ASD back on and the stereo works like it should.

What's the cheapest OBD device (available in UK) that works with these programmes? I recently invested £75 in VAG stuff, just to switch off a few things in Cupra and would prefer to cut costs on another device. Shame there's no universal ODB device.
