Bhp

Reminds me of a segment on Don't Get Done Get Dom this morning. Couple got rinsed on a Mazda, paid £2.2k, it was burning oil. Mechanic told them it would probably require a new engine cost £5.5-£6K. It looked like they were thinking of having it done :D

If you want more 'go' then part ex up to a 3.0 litre - it is a very different ownership experience but you'll find you can drive it about quite sedately with the 'sports' button left off. Plenty of performance when you want it (with increased fuel consumption). You'll love the extra performance after you've owned the 2.0 litre and got used to the handling.

As others have said - I wouldn't mess about investing in creating more performance with your 2 litre just go straight for the six cylinder (but be careful which version as bhp figures do vary as mentioned previously).

Makes more sense than spending shed loads of cash trying to wring the neck out of a small engine!

I would say a "tuned" 2lt four pot will not be as economical as a standard 3.0lt six and certainly not a flexible either!

£280 for the facelift 3.0si

More than enough power.
Keeps up with an M3 since z4 is lighter and close to a 2008 Tts

Enough for me for now.

Next will be double the HP

In coupe guise of course

////Ms.....every BMW is a M now a days with the amount of M badges i see like the E89 2L :fuelfire:
I would like mine to be a 3L then add a ESS supercharger, along with a sports exhaust, or turbo charged, grumpit etc.....something unique or stick a V8 or V10 in her but all of that is 5 figures. most of us want more BHP but it is VERY hard do do much with the 2L im affraid, so either be happy with her as OEM or do the mods ive done ( which have helped even the sprint booster chip makes trottel response MUCH better ) or get a 3L then increase BHP how you want which there is many options or buy a ///M :)

Hear what your saying Jonny ///Ms are so common  (that should put a cat amongst the pigeons)

What you thinking??? I like the idea of the off the shells ESS S/C but i also like the idea of a custom built turbo set up?????

Personally i would say so. If your looking at older cars the 3.0l comes with a 6speed gear box not sure about face lift cars. They where out of my budget when i was looking. They also tend to come with more things as standard. MPG is about the same i doubt there is an awful lot in performance but you would need to work the 3.0l as hard.

Sounds like the 3l is the best choice
it's a slippery slope...

...after a few replies, you start thinking that the extra power of the 2.5 would be nice

...a bit later you start thinking that the 3.0 is even better

...pretty soon you'll be rubbing your chin with a far-off look in your eyes while thinking of an ///M or an Alpina

Ha ha , tell me about it . I think I will save up and get a 3l. The m sport are still very expensive. I'm really annoyed with myself as the 2l is the best car I've ever bought and is amazing but it lacks a bit of power!!

The mistake I made was to only test the 2l. I was more concerned with heated seats etc...

Now that I've got a little familiar with the car it definitely lacks power which kind of spoils it for me :(
