Best way to launch an auto

Having had my 2.0 remapped recently I'm very happy with the increased power through the rev range, but it still seems quite tardy off the line.
My previous car was a mercedes with a DCT (DSG) auto box and was much better in this respect, as it should be as it's not a slush box.

Having owned many autos, I seem to remember in my youth that holding the car on the brakes and building the revs seemed to help the launch, but now I'm older and more considerate, I'm not too sure this is wise!

quickest way to launch a torque converter is indeed left foot on the brake, build the revs up against the torque converter, then release the brake.

however, this is also the quickest way to lunch a torque converter.

personally, when the lights go green, i'd just mash the throttle and let the car sort itself out.

Did you get a dyno run with the re-map?

Should be more than adequate off the line..

Depends if it's a keeper I guess.
I'd be inclined to give it half throttle until it's well into the torque band, then accelerate more.
Launching, mashing etc. may give you that 2 second feeling of triumph over the spotty youth next to you, but when your next gearbox costs the same as his car, the euphoria soon fades.

Do the Zeds with SMGII have Launch Control? (I assume the Z4M does at least)

Hold gear stick forwards, plant foot to floor, let gear stick go - enjoy headrest hammering the back of your skull each gear change

The z4m isn’t available as an auto
