The CTEK copies will have similar functionality but the firmware code and implementation of that functionality will be different, possibly in a detrimental way.
I'd be interested to see an in-depth product comparison review if anyone knows of any?

Had Aldi one for 5 years and it did the job (think they are about £12), only changed as I noticed the cables were wearing exposing the core. Got a Ctek one now with the extension cable (means I can keep an eye on the charging from the front of the garage instead of the back - car parked nose first), also the Ctek has a button for AGM batteries (suits my E89)
The sure fox one I have has a button for arm and auto restarts - does the job for £20 for certain

So it seems then that the only 'potential' issue with the cheaper ones is that they may not restart after a power outage?
If the car is at home and you know there's been a power cut then it's an easy task to reset. If the car is away from you then you'd either need a CTek or regular checks.
