best product to clean convertible roof Z4

All this talk of BMW cleaner, but they don't actually make the stuff. Nor do they actually make many components that form the vehicle, such as the roof and the seats for example. Would be interesting to know the views of the actual manufacturer of the softop rather than just accepting that a cleaning product sold by BMW is the 'right' product.

If I mix up some Raggtop with some Autoglym then apply that, what do you think will happen:

a) my roof will spontaneously combust

b) wegras will spontaneously combust

c) BMW will remove my Z4 from my ownership for not using a BMW-approved product

(if the answere is "c", then I guess I'd better remove my oil, screenwash fluid, headlight bulbs, tyres, seat cleaner, air freshener, all the wax and polish that've been applied, etc)

Pahahaha!

Tapatalking...

Haartz make the roof, and they've got a page on just this subject: http://www.haartz.com/en/consumer_info/Cleaning/cloth_top_cleaning.asp

Short of it is: Only Raggtopp is approved by the real manufacturer.

Also:

Once dry, cleaning must be followed by re-water repelling with RAGGTOPP™ Protectant. (This product does not contain CFC's and therefore, is not harmful to the environment.) Failure to apply will result in rapid resoiling of the unprotected fabric.

So there you go, hydrophobic products are not only OK, but highly recommended.

,I referred to Haartz and also Raggtop and that it is believed that Raggtop supply the BMW product at the beginning of the thread .which of course was ignored
Water repellant is not water proofing by the way
