Best driving shoe

Never owned a specific pair of driving shoes. I do wear specific trainers for all my driving though. Just cheap ones from Sports Direct.

It's twelve years later and I still drive barefoot in the summer, also do not drive a manual with flip flops

Flip flops are about the worst to drive in, although there's more pedal feel than heavy leather walking boots with a thick sole. Barefoot much easier!

I usually just wear my normal shoes, Vivo Barefoot for the most part. Thin soles, wide toe box, comfortable.

I’ve worn proper race boots on track for the last 20+ years, necessitated by the narrow pedal spacing in my Westfield. However, it’s only more recently that I’ve being wearing specific shoes to drive on the road - these Onitsuka Tigers.

They’re absolutely perfect for heel-and-toe with great pedal feel and grip, and look fine with casual clothes. However, I get some strange looks when I crawl out my Exige at a petrol station wearing them with a suit😄

When you have uk size 14 or Euro size 49 its doesn't matter what you wear you can cover all three pedal with one foot.

But I'm not in a race car so it doesn't matter what you wear.

For those of slightly an older dispostion that maybe just wear slippers

That's it...I've officially heard it all now. Fecking 'driving shoes'. Never heard the like.

I can imagine the conversation "do you know where my keys are dear, oh and my specific driving shoes". If I said that to my wife, once she stopped laughing she would.......actually I don't think she would stop laughing.

Back in the day, I so envied dear Uma in that two piece yellow tracksuit and yellow Mexico 66's, how she could make such a simple outfit look so unbelievably sexy. Later, I learned that the outfit was a homage to Bruce Lee in Game of Death, anyway such an iconic shoe and would love a pair.

I've never bought shoes specifically for driving, any sort of trainers are just fine.

Although when I was driving automatic Sprinters for online shopping deliveries on a part-time basis for 18 months I wore steel toe-cap boots and I couldn't drive a manual BMW in them.

No choice - there isn’t space for normal shoes in my size in my Lotus without covering both brake and throttle pedals.
I’m surprised you didn’t have a similar problem in your Z3 before you changed the interior. When I was looking to buy a Z3M Coupe, during test drives the toe of my boot would catch under the dash when I was using the throttle.
Perhaps there’s more room in a non-M Z3. Or perhaps you’re a man with diminutive appendages. Something else that must make your wife laugh 😁

I’d forgotten that. Great films and worth rewatching for many reasons
