Best driving shoe

PVR has driving shoes. IIRC they are very similar to these :

:D

I can drive in almost anything, including towering heels. For long distances though, I like my converse or a pair of pumps. Re: flip flops, no they are not illegal....... BUT. Six years ago on a very hot Summer's evening I was coming from Tamworth snowdome having been skiing (yes really) and had changed into flip flops. I approached a junction near home just as lights were changing and was braking to stop. However, my flip flop sort of slipped off my foot and off the brake, resulting in literally crawling at a ridiculously slow speed across the junction and being flashed and consequently fined £60 and having driving licence endorsed with 3 points for jumping a red light ! You have been warned.

I love my tod's loafers. They are really comfortable and give great feedback. To me they are the best, among everyday shoes, for driving. They may not be as good as purpose built driving shoes though. Sabelt also makes some really tasteful loafers :driving:

flip flop, barefoot law....... bit of an urban myth i suspect, the politicians debate a lot of silly things but cant see that taking up time in the lords .

In the Southwest US states. One is generally not allowed to drive in Flip-Flops. And with good reason. Here it is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribulus_terrestris
Should you need to do an urgent stop and one of these little nasties are attached to ones Flip-Flop. You just might get in an accident. These things are truly wicked.

Having an auto it doesn't really matter what I wear, however I can't wear my CAT boots because they're quite chunky and having size 11's makes it a bit awkward.

I have about 8 pairs of different moccasins, love them to drive. Puma seem to do a good range of casual shoe which double up as good driving shoes when you actually need to do some walking too. Reason I asked: I've just bought a paid of these AdiRacer Low's (http://www.adidas.co.uk/Men%27s-adiRacer-Low/G16082_540,en_GB,pd.html?cgid=&cm_vc=SEARCH), which are said to be pretty good for the purpose.

Despite having driving shoes, I tend to drive in whatever I need to at the time. I've got a mate who keeps a pair of shoes in his (non-sporty) car for driving only.

I'd love to have the bottle to get a pair of those Vibram FiveFingers 'barefoot' shoes, but they just look ridiculous.

ETA: just looked and they're now doing some that look more like 'normal' shoes/boots - although still with the thin sole and separate toes.
