Been a bit Busy on the M.....

The size of the tips are pretty big yes but the cans themselves are TINY compared to the stock items. Still love mine after years of having them
 
Yes it was the tips/pipes in general i was on about, the cans are as you say tiny.

Whats the weight difference out of interest? BMW exhausts are not known for being on the lighter side!
 
Never weighed them but from feel, both RPI cans weighed about as much as one of the OEM ones!

The only person to have claimed that is Exdos i believe. I haven't seen it in any of the BMW material.
 
I would seriously doubt there is even noticable difference with downforce on either zorst to be fair.............

The cans are big.... and the internal bore is wide perhaps this isnt coming across on the pics... the whole exhaust is pretty big to be fair... and very good quality, the welds are spot on, the materials good.... cant talk about fitment as its not on yet but i will certainly post that up when done.

Arnt they one of the only exhausts to have a proven difference on the dyno's as I seem to believe? I have the link somewhere I will dig it out
 
they look "Amazing" i look forward to hearing the sound track once fitted, i will pop down to you and have a listen, if i like then may well get for mine cheers Andy :thumbsup:

Yep, I reckon their shape, having a "spoon-like" underside profile, produces a "Coanda effect" which will create lower pressure as the air passes beneath. I haven't seen anything to confirm this though.
 
I hate the RPI sound but to be fair it is marmite - just as many love it as hate it. I have to admit it does a look a well made piece of kit.

The car is coming on nicely :thumbsup:
 
Spotted CockneyPlayboy today in my office car park! Car looks superb, sounds great too... looks like it's now got this exhaust on. :thumbsup:

Quite an odd feeling recognising a car you've never seen before!

You cant always just "order the right offset for the rear" if they dont manufacture it or stock it for that particular wheel!

The Offset was only 27 which was a snatch off the original, and I already said I wanted to space the rear if it appeared like I needed it. Its no drama at all really is it!

Its not a waste of money as I have the wheel style I like so how do you work that one out?

The Spacer isnt "Whopping" at 15mm and the longer nuts come with the kit.... all in at an extra £40 delivered. If you think thats a huge waste of money then I dont know what to tell you ;)
........ for me, thats NOTHING to get the wheels and the correct look I want, in the grand scheme of things.

Also, it gives me the option to "upsize" the rear tyre if I so desire at a later date when it comes to replacing. At the moment I dont want to as I wanted to keep as close to stock as I could..... but its certainly something I would like the option on.

thankyou for the large explanation.... still makes no sense when the 27 offset was available (unless I'm confused as to which you've chosen) and a smaller spacer is required to get the same result with less rotational mass ( especially as the wheels you've chosen are known to be very heavy) . No drama at all was just wondering why you choose what you did, keep cool man.

The wheels look nice as does the car.

I chose the nearest offset that was available and within the tolerances........... obviously. Wouldnt I be a dick head if I did anything other than that?! :rofl:
 
Not had an update for a while.... SO.... after a near meltdown of a disc due to a siezed caliper I have had a TOTAL refurb on the brakes (including hubs off and handbreak mechanism serviced) with nice new parts so the car stops as well as it goes now. Full BMW fluid change too... why not :thumbsup:

The FINAL thing I have being done currently is the front bumper is being totally resprayed as I wasnt happy with those stone chips.... so they had to go to make it perfect!!!

Pics to go up when picked up this weekend!

.......... not even nearly in the same ballpark..... The OEM is like lifting the Hulk compared to a Kitten when lifting the RPI.... I kept the standard one in case of a sale and someone may want the original to go with the car.
