beeing played by dealer / extanded waranty

Hello everyone! I have 2010 3.0is Z4 with 38.000 miles. Until now all good but last week experience have left with with bad taste for another Z4 due to dealer and whole BMW extended warranty bul****.

In short from driver side, above your head where two roofs join you will see various hydraulic liquid pipes/hoses, they are visible from inside when roof is closed and very visible as you operate your roof. Well one of them have been rubbing off against the closing mechanize ( it was not supposed to do so) and i got a nice hole from where hydraulic oil leaked damaging few interior items.

I took the car to dealer and they quoted me over £1200 to change that hydraulic hose, but the best part is that they told me that they contacted extended BMW warranty ( i have comprehensive level) who refused to settle the claim. BMW garage told me that this is clearly BMW issue and should not have happened as this part was not supposed to rub off metal mechanism and that due to that they will try to see and reduce the bill.

I called extended warranty company and to mu surprise they informed me that no claim was made, so i called back BMW service and confronted them... only then they told me that they made the decision in house " due to policy wording"

BMW service was giving me story how they sent picture of failed part to insurance company, how they tried all...how this should be covered by extended warranty and they feel for me so they are trying to reduce the bill..... I call this lying.. and i am more than disappointed!

What is your experience when dealing with similar issue with BMW service and BMW extended warranty? This issue is with Park Lane Battersea London repair service. Any advice would be helpful.

Thx

Use HR Owen Acton.....ask for Nicky, top bloke and great centre, and 5 mins from Central Line, good courtesy cars too

That's bang out of order and I would take it further.

It would appear like all things dealers have some discretion. With AUC cars it's a guideline as I found out and subsequently reject my last car. The issue being the service history had not been maintained to schedule, which I have not been advised about even though the dealer stated that they only sell ///M cars with full BMW service history. They decided that a lapse of 8 months was fine. Checking with the warranty company they advised otherwise if a claim was to be made though.

I recently made a claim on my E87 company car for a new seat cover under good will. This was granted and when I asked was advised the dealer has a certain amount of discretion on good will claims and the decision in my case was made at dealer level.

Sounds like standard BMW customer service to me, rinse the customer for all they've got and then take their clothes for good measure.

Nothing suprises me anymore....
Fully agree.
I have lost faith in my local main dealer, given them a few opportunities to redeem themselves yet they have continued to let me down.... Washed my hands with them now.

I have had experience in the past with a 'extended fully comprehensive BMW warranty' and also experienced problems claiming. Don't get me wrong many people have been fortunate using the extended warranty and saved many ££££.

You definitely need to raise the issue higher, maybe try and get the dealer principle involved?

When i had trouble with my coupe being in the bodyshop for a looooong time on a paint warranty issue i got the DP involved.

I have to say that he was very good, and was very sympathetic to what had gone on..

It all got a little out of hand in the end,as i was ranting on,but in the end everything worked out...But i have to say my confidence is now severely dented at the experience.

I also got BMW GB involved.... Although they answered emails quickly enough ultimately its a waste of time, they just point out that each dealership is a franchise and refer you back to the dealer you are having a problem with..

That's truly awful. Just seems some dealers just can't be bothered. When I had my E88 I noticed an issue with the wheels, the garage quickly decided to check every wheel and found the tiniest issue and had them replaced under warranty, however they seemed to 'refurb' them. When confronted they confirmed they did, quick call the bmw UK who confirmed that they had paid for 4 new alloy wheels, they took this up with the dealer and my wheels were then replaced with new ones while I watched.

I also developed a hole in my fabric roof caused by a design flaw bmw had issued a PUMA notice for in the US and SA but didn't do so in Europe. When I took my just over 4 year old car with 14k to the dealership without warranty they took pictures in front of me, sent them to BMW and I ended up having to pay £200 for a new roof and coding instead of over £2k. I would expect that if I had an issue with my car, especially my roof due to internal rubbing that my warranty be it from new or extended would cover it.

I would take this up with bmw UK. Is there another dealer you can use?

Sorry to hear this OP. For info BMW park lane and mini park lane are the only dealerships in the country which are owned by the brands directly. Not sure if this makes a difference but the mini experience i had was 'ok' nothing spectacular and lots of aftercare chasing. To be honest I hate London dealerships whatever the brand, Much rather spend my money outside of London! Try a different bmw dealer. Berry Chiswick are hit and miss....which would be near you?

Thank you all for your reply. I am still waiting to hear from dealer regarding they taking "discretion" on this case. Regardless of the outcome i feel no trust and if they offer to fix it for half price than originally quoted i am still not happy as i should pay just excess of the insurance - anything above that its rip off.

i have now spoken to a guy who specialize in car extended warranties www.warrantycomplaints.co.uk and he is having a good look at the case, tomorrow i will know more from him as well.

One thing for sure i am not letting this one go easily, i feel cheated and lied by bmw and that's total trust gone, i doubt they will apologize! This is my 2nd Z4 and most likely last BMW i will ever have.

will keep you posted, additional advices from you guys to consider welcomed.

UPDATE

Got a phone call today from garage they will repair the car and only thing i need to pay is excess. Interesting situation here. BMW garage is making a good will gesture but still i wonder what didn't they they submit the claim when by their account it should be covered...do they really give up so easily and prefer to make a good will gesture?

saying this i will still call in few days extended warrant company just to check if they actually did make a claim now...

even if i got bill reduced to what it needed to be in a first place whole process have left bitter taste regarding BMW.... i would have been better having a Toyota!

Failed pump motor same cr** from Insured warranty they actuall lied to me about the call from Dealer making claim ,luckily Dealer records all calls to them ....experience tells :)
In the end I got a goodwill credit from Dealer
The Insured warranty lot are toxic probab;ly run by the Mafia .I wouldn't touch their product again with a barge pole
They have a let out clause for any possible claim

Somewhat of a similar story with me too. Same dealer, same warranty company. I had asked stuff to be fixed - they said it was. Will give details once the car is fixed - but I found out holding your ground works. I will PM you.
