Because I am told I have no "fashion sense"

I take it the stubby doesn't affect the dab reception?

I believe that the DAB ariel is separate to this but I could be wrong.

Actually can you send a pic showing the aerial? Haven't seen it.

Your wish is my command...
TWO pics for you

Thanks. Didn't even see it as option (how much was it?) what's the general opinion on it vs the standard? Looks and signal reception?

It about around £22.80 usually. Part number is 65202296761

Oh and TopDMC, great looking car

I think dealers get told quite often these days not to touch the car with regard to PDI. I know I would be doing the same.

Not a big fan of the stubby but I did see a nice one on an E89 in Germany last month.
It was a totally cylindrical, copper coloured and about 100mm long. I have only seen this one and would happily change my opinion and fit, if only I could find one!

BMW used to do a 110mm version which was black but has been discontinued for a couple of years and replaced with the 83mm version which was always aimed towards the 1 series hatch whilst the 110mm was aimed at the convertibles. I'm sure you'll see the 100mm one you saw in Germany when you least expect it. Then all you would need to do it have the wheel colour changed to match. Mikes wheels are a cop perish colour and a very similar colour to DSB, looks an ace combo

Correct on the part number, correct on the price.
Not so sure about DAB ariel being separate, certainly can't see another ariel anywhere else

As to looks and performance...
On my previous E89 I had tried a cheap stubby bought from eBay and that gave poor reception and the black came off to leave a copper colour. Then bought one from Citroen as I had read on the forum that this was every bit as good as the OGM and again that gave cr*p reception, so ended up putting the whip back on.

So when I bought this car I added £22.80 to have "the real thing" knowing that if it did not work they would take it straight back.
Really happy :D with this one,it works fine and looks great - so much more solid than the others I had bought.

You get what you pay for!

very nice and about time too. since you initially raised this thread..... i chopped in my 20i and traded up to a 35is..... only difference is it only took me 4 weeks from deciding to go for it and getting my car lol but i blame this thread for putting the idea in my head in the first place! :P

I remember your thread and was envy'ous (see what I did there LOL) of you getting yours so quick.
I did actually tell the dealer about this and he said must have been stock car - didn't sound like it at the time.

Anyway, yours is old now :fuelfire:

Deep Sea Blue with extended white Interior...beautiful
With a nice bit of walnut
There should be no problems keeping it clean if it's your pride and joy
What's the best price anyone has had for a 3.5i
How does this reflect on nearly new or ex demo prices
Anyone know?

Can anyone tell me why when I reply to a post and submit it
It tells me that it has been accepted by very often dosnt appear in the thread
I'm hoping this one does and hope someone can tell me what is wrong
Also I can't seem to find a way of posting a new thread I am only able to reply and as I say this often dosnt appear
Any help please

That's a lovely looking car, but I would say that

One thing I have noticed, the black get's less dirty than the DSB, which seems to lose shine 10 minutes after you have washed it.

Some nice E89 models here:

I especially like the black one from Gunspeed (licende plate 007-GUN):

The one above is also with the white interior, which is really nice indeed. Although, I'd go all the way black. It will keep its value better, not everyone likes the white interior... Hard to keep perfectly clean, especially if you wear jeans regularly!

Just come in from sealing the exterior, Gtechniq EVO 2 with three coats
Next to seal the alloys and then start on the interior tomorrow

In answer to your question Captainken, I paid just over £35k but it does have £6k of extras - that was about the same if not less than ex dems.

If you love your car that much you will keep it clean

You can't get the extended White interior and haven't been able to for a year or two now. No matter what the colour of car, anyone who takes pride in their car will keep it clean.

The DAB Antenna goes nowhere near the rear ariel and according to the parts diagram, the DAB antenna is within the rearview mirror housing so you won't be able to see it http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=LM12&mospid=52067&btnr=65_1948&hg=65&fg=30.

BMW do very well at hiding quite a few bits, the SIM card, GPS and antenna for phone connections in the rear bumper.

Absolutely correct, the spec is DSB with Canberra Beige

And of course I love my car :D

Look nice? Don't you still have analog radio too? I was always lead to believe that connecting a phone to a snap in cradle or cable would use the car aerial to help boost the signal the phone is receiving.
