Because I am told I have no "fashion sense"

Why don't you think about what you want and then post up here and people can comment on their opinion of any No No's?

That way you get to select the car according to your own taste and style and have some input to make sure you don't pick anything which could be a big issue come resale.

Thanks, good comment, I'm going later today to have a look at a few options and can then make up my mind
Really want to order before the weekend.

My 2p's worth based on what I have on my 35i.
Heated wheel is brilliant value for money and an awesome function in winter.
Heated seats are fantastic.
I agree with your view on Nav being a rip off, but see what you mean about resale.
19's are a must if you like aesthetics, quite crashy through potholes.
Comfort pack is a must based on value AND function.
My final view on exterior colour, albeit controversial, Valencia Orange (ultimate fashion statement) with contrasting Black roof is a 'must have' because life is for living

As has been mentioned, with the Orange exterior you get the lovely half alcantara interior which is different to the all leather affair you get normally

I think you need 19" wheels , heated seats , upgraded stereo , sat nav (yes its expensive & not any better than a free standing unit but car isnt complete without it) I ordered a whole heap of other stuff but none of it I would regard as essential , colour I went for orange and added the leather pack to the interior , the only thing I would avoid is the TV option I had this in my E86 think I used it properly about 3 times so that made it £200 a go and it was rubbish

I do love Valencia Orange. Although, I chose a dark exterior & light interior combo as below

So when the suns out, I get to show a bit of colour which is a nice contrast to the dreary old grey.

In the showroom for nearly 2 hours, there was no way I was going to sign until I had posted on here!

:D I'm happy :D

sDrive 35iS

Canberra Beige Kansas Leather
Fineline Anthracite Wood Trim

19" M Double-spoke style 326 wheels (with runflats :o )

Comfort Package
- Wind Deflector
- Exterior and interior mirrors

- Cruise Control

Media Package
- Navigation
- Plus loads of bits I didn't understand

Model designation deletion
Model designation deletion (side)

Seat Heating

Then there is what I would like; but I really think I have run out of money!
Comfort access (my wife has this on her car and I really like it - but £545)
Steering Wheel Heating (not sure if worth it)
Windscreen with Grey Shade Band
Loudspeaker upgrade

Let me know your thoughts

My thoughts, you'll love a heated steering wheel even if you think you might not. (Think cool summer evenings with the roof down and cold winter mornings)
I love my upgraded stereo and from what's been said across different forums, the standard stereo might not be that good.

I also think Ronks sentiment is a good one, you'll regret it if you could have afforded it and didn't get it

IMHO, Get the best hi-fi upgrade you can. I think this is Professional DSP on the Z4. It is difficult to upgrade it afterwards especially if you have all the media and nav.

The standard is not great and IMO the loudspeaker or business upgrade, whatever they call it now is not much better.

Sounds nice, about the same spec I went for. Have no regrets. Heated steering wheel is only £215 is it not,I was too late before build. If it's winter get a pair of gloves. The comfort pack is a must. Upgraded hifi is fantastic & satnav is a nice touch. I got a great deal on that £1400. :D my 1st pic need to get more.6600a5172a336674b7a2de9803cc2249_zps80a9dd36.jpg

You are right Ronk, I agree with you....
..... "Always go for the best you can afford"; but I think that is about as far as I can go. I have gone with the media pack which at £2k before discount took up all the spare cash.

Not convinced by the heated steering wheel (although I used to say that about the heated seats), it is only £155 so I might just splash the cash :)

Well sniffer, from what I can see I do have the best hifi, it is their DAB professional. I have looked and all I can add is the two loudspeaker systems.
The Advanced which according to the dealer is a couple of extra tweeters and a box under the seat or the professional which is the same except that they are Harman ones. Cannot justify £575 or £870 for just that!

I am still torn on the exterior colour :x Not sure about black or deep sea green and now I see Kermit's red I'm thinking that way - HELP!!!

Heated steering wheel is fantastic in the winter - you will regret not speccing it for £150 ish.

I never had it on any car before, and would never have picked it as it sounds a load of old rubbish.

But now I have tried it - LOVE IT!

All cars get heated seats as an option (or even standard now) - how many get a heated steering wheel? Exactly.

Matt

Hi, it is the loudspeaker systems which repeat the sound into the cabin and therefore change the sound.

It depends what you want and if hi fi in a car is something which you will get enjoyment from.

if you are going to do it, go for the best option, you will get something back for it come resale IMO.

Some would argue that hi fi is not important at all in a cabrio in any case, in which case, don't spec any of the loudspeaker upgrades.

I fairness with my current Z I cannot hear a thing when the top is down, which is most times (hot or cold days).
Would I hear better if I had better speakers? Probably yes; but I really think I am overspending :P

Out today roof down & tunes on,the upgraded sound system is very good. Recommend

So, that's it
Decision made and I ain't changing my mind - I think :o

Decided to go with the big spec, nav, media pack 19" all as previously mentioned above
Cannot justify spending any more although I did add the heated steering wheel.
£14k discount off the car!!

You have 30 minutes to change my mind then I am off to sign on the dotted line :driving:

Great spec choices - though I'd have gone with Valencia Orange :P

I think the upgraded stereo is worth it in the e89 (or the e86 coupe) because of the hard top... But in the e85 I'm not sure it's worth it because with the rag top it's still very noisy with the roof up. Roof down, who cares - the engine & exhaust are all that matter :driving:
