Battery Disconnected - How to Open Trunk?

I did some searching on this and I can't find an answer.

I unplugged the battery to do the oil filter housing gasket replacement but I couldn't finish the repair in one day so I closed the trunk with the battery disconnected. That was about five days ago. Now I can't get into the trunk with the key. The key works with the locks on the doors and it turns when I put the key into the trunk lock and twist counter clockwise but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong (do I need to push the lock really hard or twist clockwise or something)? Do I need to get a jumper box and give the car power through the hood?

The key should work on the trunk, sounds like there is an issue with the locking mechanism (perhaps a cable).

Connect 12v power to the under bonnet terminals then use the interior button to open the boot

I had this trouble after swapping my boot over. Used the cable in the new boot and it was longer so wouldn’t open with the key. Of course only found this out like the OP did. Swapped the cable over and job was a goodan.

So would suggest looking at the cable, see if it’s stretched or come loose.
