Battery Disconnected - Cannot Open Boot to reconnect

Just been doing some work on the car and had to disconnect the battery. For some reason or other I closed the boot which I don't normally do :headbang:

Problem is the boot will now not open with the key for some reason or other. Tried to connect jump leads under the bonnet using wife's car. alarm goes off but nothing responds.

What can I do?

OK, managed to start by jumping, but it's not happy and I still can't get into the boot as the central locking isn't working. Guessing this has something to do with the alarm going off.

How the f@ck do I get into the boot?

Sounds like you need to trace the main cables that run into the engine bay and put the jump leads on there to give you a temporary power supply mate

He may have been stupid on this occasion, but he is not permanently stupid :poke:

The reason the boot wouldn't open was that I used the lock mech from the new boot with my key lock. Now either BMW changed something at some point or the cable was stretched when the previous owner stripped the boot. I thought I had checked when fitting as I was paranoid about closing the boot without the lock and electrics connected in case I could not open. I can only think that I did not test the key lock.

Luckily I kept my lcok mech when I sold the boot, so swapped over an all OK.

What happened today?

Well after nearly three years of ownership I though I had better refit my Reinhold modules. Not being a DD I hadn't missed them so much. The other reason it took a while was I didn't want to solder in a confined place so was looking for alternatives to scotchloks etc. you have to tap into two wires on the Body Module and although I had plugged this back in I removed it again to re route two wires. Of course being tucked well away I forgot to plug back in the second time. This is why when I connected the battery the alarm went off and none of the locks would work. I realised my mistake when I went to remove the Reinhold module in case this was the issue.

When I jumped the car it did run, but after a short while started runing rough with the EML light on. Luckily with the battery connected all was good again.

And who needs a coupe, as the battery cover wasn't on it would be possible to get to the battery via the roof tray. I'm guessing something might have to break but it would be the easiest/best way to get into the boot as an emergency.

Any all is well, and you've all had a laugh :D

Just don't expect any sympathy when you have any trouble 2dogs :poke:
