Just ordered mine! Bulb went last week and Halfrauds want £18 for a single normal bulb, so this just makes sense. Should be here next Thursday.

What do you do with the extra cable? Just let it hang, or pad it with anything?

Im joining the crowd. CREE LED's ordered and due sometime this week. Have watched Youtube for the install info, ready to go!

I just left the extra cable and transformer (?) in the cavity - was a tight fit but it works.

Thanks. Email said they had been dispatched so should be here soon. Probably a weekend job though so that I can do it in the daylight!

Just installed LED 40W each side and very happy with the look. Whilst everything I have seen here, and on youtube, says to put the extra wiring and 'transformer'(?) bits into the small space that is the light housing, just wondering if the heat from the transformer type bit is a problem.

As a person who can, and did, make a five minute job extend into 90 minutes I offer this next gem. When my new globes arrived yesterday they were already connected to the associated wiring and bits that come with them. Just check they have been connected firmly and properly before going anywhere near the engine bay. Half way through installing light number two I heard something fall down behind the light housing and wheel arch. One of the metal transformer type bits hadn't been connected properly and fell down into a place where I couldn't even see it. Getting into the void at the bottom of that area took a bit of effort, but managed to get my hand into the area from underneath. Fortunately the time spent trying to find then hook this bit had made it fall all the way. A lot of swearing, sweat, dirt and even some blood, and finally got it.

So I fitted the LED bulbs today and have a question about fitment.

They are in, and working really well, but I'm not sure I have "tightened them up enough".

The original bulbs start vertically and turn 90 degrees to undo. With these, as the barrel is round with some grooves, I can't get it to turn the reverse 90 degrees, can only get about 45 degree if lucky.

The passenger side one seems quite tight but the drivers one doesn't inspire confidence.

So heres the passenger side:
passengerLED.jpg

The blue marker on the grove is inserted at the 9 o'clock position and should move to the 12 o'clock position, but is probably at about 1030?

Driver side:
driversLED.jpg

The blue marker on the grove is inserted at the 3 o'clock position and should move to the 12 o'clock position, but is probably at about 2 o'clock?

The originals are hard to move, but as they have the protruding part it is possible to get some grip, but as these are round, its not possible.

So have other people with these style ones got them to the 12 o'clock position?

Also, I ordered from the link above but my lights are silver, not grey and I've got 2 metal bits attached to each light. And the power clip isn't keyed, so I had to guess which way round to connect it:
power.JPG

They light up, so either I guessed correctly or it doesn't matter?

These are the ones in the bay add...have I been done-over?

When you installed them, would you say they "screwed" into place enough, i.e. 90 degrees and are you confident they won't fall out?

I messaged the seller. He reckons he sent me an updated version and that I can return them, but he has no stock left.

I didn’t notice if they are at 90 degrees but they were as tight as I could get them and so far they’re working perfectly.

I bought some of these and fitted them this morning
There was no way they would twist into position
The seal was a good 2mm thicker than the OEM one
I swapped the new seals for the old and they popped in easy peasy lemon squeezy

I've had issues with LED canbus friendly bulbs 'flashing' when the car is off. Is this not an issue with these?

They look like the ones I got. Think I threw the originals away...if I still have them I'll try changing the seals.

Your 2nd photo doesn't do the outer ring justice, and is (I suspect) what people mean when they say it doesn't light up as much as the inner one. Its due to the camera angle I think. When mine come on, walking up to the car they look fine.

Not that I know of, but then I don't stand in front of the car when I've locked it to check. How often were yours doing that?

I've had them in since the end of Nov and haven't noticed any issues like that.

The only ‘flashing’ I’ve noticed since upgrading is other drivers ‘flashing’ me as if my dipped headlights are undipped! They aren’t but why does changing the angel eyes to white make dipped beam look so bright!

It was a different car. Been following this thread because I'm planning on doing the upgrade.

Basically, the way the bulb sensor worked was to put a really small charge through the lights when the key went in (and for about 30 seconds when you switched off). Anyway, the way the bulbs worked to be error free meant that they would 'flash' due to the capacitors or whatever. End result - failed mot and new 'new bulbs'.

If these don't do that I'm all set to order a pair. 😁

LED run a use a lot less energy and run a lot cooler the halogen bulbs, that’s why they have resistors fitted so it doesn’t throw a fault light, I don’t think you will have any issues
