Yeah me too mate, they're the dog's danglers! Good choice, sir, if I may say so!

Are they OEM 789's or "789-type" ones? What rubber is on them? Did you have to do anything to get them to fit the car, spacers etc? rR just bought them, put the rubber on and banged them on?

I have been deliberating changing wheels for ages now and not quite gotten round to it, scared of the complexity a bit :? The standard wheels - as per my sig - just make the car look a little "soft" in my eyes.
I love those wheels. Don't look 'soft' at all to me. Give me a PM if you ever want shot of them
I will do but, we're a long way from NZ dude.....!

When did this happen :? I must have been snoozing :?
Finally at the top of the E89 tree Andy, fine looking motor  How's the experience? :driving:

"finally at the top of the tree" :? hmmm :? not sure about that :? i was going to wait a while longer then offer up a post on my thoughts but as you asked
Only a month & 500 miles in to the 35is Colin but without wanting to poke the hornets nest too much i rate the remapped manual 35i i had higher :o & after upping the stock 340bhp i can also report you can thrust as much power as you like through a E89 & you will never have a "performance" car , its simply not designed or intended that way
i'l be the first to admit that ive yet to really explore the capacity of the DCT but so far its left me uninvolved & underwhelmed  imo its not as sharp as a DSG box in a Golf R i recently drove :( now it may well show its prowess when a skilled user really pushes the box & car but i have felt little difference from the autobox i have had in 3 previous Si coupes .
Also notice its not a option on the latest G29 40i (or any other G29) , does that say something about it ?

Straight talking as always mr wilks. Not many members have driven, let alone owned, the range of Zeds you have and there's no firsthand experience on this side of the keyboard, so certainly food for thought :driving:

Love those wheels!Love the aggressive modern look they have given the car. Suit it well. Your spec is almost identical to mine (minus two cylinders)

Eerrr no they are reps  genuine are around £3500 wheels only.
Straight fit onto a E89 with 235-35-19 front & 255-35-19 rear tyres.
These will be up for sale at some point over the coming weeks or if decide on some others aim for 8.5j front 9.5j rear & ideally offsets of et35/38
If you flog them mate then please let me have first refusal by shooting me a PM? Depending on the state of play with SWMBO I could be interested.

Interesting view point from a respected source

I came to that conclusion with the 28i, (I know its not a 35i/is so slightly different comparison) but I just find it doesn't have the overall "handling" competency you would expect in a true performance car hence why I have never tried upping the HP. I feel I just have to "hold back" when I feel the need to engage "spirited" driving mode, I do feel the chassis can give more but the combination of tyres, suspension and braking (Or lack of) rather leave me wanting and just holding back.

IMO its not a true performance car more of a GT experience so really a proper hairdressers car, only thing is I have already lost most of my hair

Car looks cracking and those wheels work a treat
I'm 4 months in now with my first Z4, so far i have binned the run flats, changed to a short stubby aerial and updated the lights to the much nicer white look on the front as well as the full interior led kit. Going to see about exhaust options on Monday :D although may be a bit restricted as mine is the 23i

Hi Mr Wilks,

Please do let me know if you decide to sell these alloys! Love the look of them :)

Mine came with the chrome side repeaters , what can I say about those without offending
I wouldn't have fitted them by choice
I like the design of the LCI indicators (mine also came with them fitted), but I've never understood why they're 'chrome' - nothing else on the car is so they don't really 'fit' the rest of the vehicle.
I wonder what a better option would be? Black would be lost on a black car, white too contrasting. Maybe a satin silver or something that matches the wheels a bit better?
They are chrome to match the eyebrow on the top of the front lights which is also chrome. This is the same on the pre-LCI, the side repeaters are white to match the white eyebrows on the lights.

At the time of the 35i conception there was not a ZF auto box that could cope with the torque of the 35i engine..subsequently they came out with a higher torque version of the ZF8HP..since the ZF8HP outsmarts the Getrag box in many ways, primarily economy modes wise, I suspect that's why its used across the range now..

Not wholly correct..

The LCI side indicators are available in gloss black as well..

Well, how about that... learn something new all the time. I've never noticed the different strip on the top of LCI Z4's headlights before.

upgraded angel eyes to bright white from yellow £21.90

I have to say I am impressed with the quality of these LED's. They came fully packaged, felt solid quality. The only complaint is that when putting in the passenger side lamp, as I was trying to screw it left, this would cause the top part of the screw head to physically twist off the lamp rather than the lamp twist in to the groove, highly irritating. Other than that pleased :)

Where did you get the exhaust tips from?

Guy ive used many times , Gary at Zaustworx in Lancs http://www.exhaustworx.co.uk/
Well worth the drive to him if possible , new tips supplied & fitted in 30 mins for max £100

Thanks for the info, will call him might get it done on way to zedfest if I have enough time..

I did ask him about sending the tips out for self fitting but he explained this would be difficult unless access to a pipe expander & other specific tooling for removing existing tips :? apparently the stock pipes are both different girth & he started off with the new tips too small then expands each one to custom fit along with slightly shortening / notching the drivers side .

I just emailed them, I am wondering if they are compatible with the 35i due to the different rear vallance. I am going to Zedfest from Plymouth on the 5th July so could stop in for the work or assessment and work on the way home.
Will let you know.
You attending the 'fest'??
