Bad Vibe - Audio Issues

Hello, newbie here, to the forum if not to Zeds :)

Had my 2015 E89 2.0 for a little over three months which is more than enough time to tire of the base audio and the 4-pot isn't helping, so having read some posts a quick solution seemed to be a Vibe 65.4 and some better speakers.

I fitted the amp this week and while I have a couple of Match UP speakers to fit in the doors i'm currently still on the stock units.

Here's the problem... with the amp fitted i get a "heartbeat" from the speakers... a pulsing, throbbing noise - occasional crackle - a bit like when the needle hits the centre of the record for those old enough to know of these things! Turning the gain controls on the amp up and down increases and decreases the volume of the noise however it is still noticeable. Removing the amp removes the noise.

I searched the forum and did see someone else describing my symptoms but unfortunately the user didn't seem to stick around long enough for a solution!

Anyone experienced similar or have any ideas what the issue might be? I'm speaking to the distributor also but I suspect they may not have a solution.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Steve.

I fitted the same, no problems.
Perhaps bad ground somewhere or cables close to other car cables.
i know it's a bit tight behind the radio.
Also for anyone else, when fitted you get errors on the obd code reader, i just ignore.

You could try taking the head unit and the amp out and trying it again with everything connected up loose.

Thanks for the responses. I've spoken to tech support from the distributor today and they are of the opinion that it's either a bad ground or the loose red 12v cable - that shouldn't need connected when using the T harness - is causing the vehicle to repeatedly check something and needs connected...
Tbh I was hoping it was just going to be a replacement harness required as not sure I'm invested enough to go back into the fuse box. Didn't enjoy it previously.
Might just do the speakers.

I’m sure if you used the correct T harness then there’s no reason to go into the fuse box. That could be where your problem is.
Just re read your post and a little confused, have you used the T harness and also wired a live feed to the amp?

I used T harness, but ended up modifying due lack of space.
By passed some connectors.

Ended up like this:

No messing with fuse box.

No, I only used the T harness. The distributor suggested wiring the live feed to rule it out. And wiring another ground...
I haven't done either.

Taking the amp out of the equation by leaving the T harness connected but removing the amp's loom (connecting the T harness blocks to themselves) and I still get the noise, but no music. To me it seems like a rogue T harness, but i'm no auto-electrician.

That's why i couldn't get T harness to work until i followed wiring diagram and removed connectors.
Just too confusing and no logic.

Thinking back i possibly had horrible noise just pushing connectors together.
Anything i touch never works first time, in the family we call it the Kirk curse!
So i started from scratch, traced wires and removed unnecessary connectors.
Check your wires against mine.
