Bad Parking

Just another point but I've been in car parks where someone parks like that and then others park next to them within a foot or so creating a domino effect. Only takes a few cars, they leave and you could be left looking like the so called 'inconsiderate' tool when actually you were just trying to park when space was limited.

I came home the other night to find a fiat 500 parked in the most awkward position so much so that if I had needed to get out I couldn't because they had basically just abandoned their car with it slightly overhanging my car so I wouldn't be able to get out without having to hit it. In a space that usual fits a GTR and the Z4 perfectly with room to spare I was like wtf. I was actually tempted to lift it and move it into the correct position. And people wonder why people park defensively as there is always at least one tool who gives not a flying whatsnot about their car or anyone else's for that matter.

Now a lot of these guys/girls flagrantly abuse the blue badge and mother/child spaces, but occasionally it's nice to be surprised by legitimate blue-badged luxury car usage or a child seats in an FF. :D

A convertible of any kind parked in a parent and child space seems to attract lots of attention usually from people looking to have a go thinking it's being abused as I've experienced whilst out with my nephews. First time it was in my E88 which had 4 seats and now I've got the Z'd people can't quite believe there is actually a child being driven in the car as if I keep a massive seat on my passenger seat as a joke!

I believe supermarkets are obliged by law to provide blue badge bays - mother and child bays however are discretionay.

Apparently for every space in a carpark there has to be a percentage of these that are disabled spaces.
If you are in a carpark and there are no free spaces other than disabled spaces can these be used?

How can you be so irresponsible as to take a small child in a convertible? Surely you'll either immediately crash while drag racing chavs or the kid will fly out at high speed on the motorway?!

No!

Some supermarkets issue fines . Asda traffic gestapo told me that if all blue bays are used, blue badge holders can use mother and child bays.

Why not? If there are 20 free disabled parking spaces and no free normal spaces whats the problem?
Also, as far as I was told you can park in disabled parking spaces outside peoples homes as long as if someone actually needs it you vacate the space.

I suppose they could fill up while the driver is in the shop?
I don't think supermarket fines hold water in a court?...?

A local shopping centre with a multi-storey car park has half the spaces on the floors where you can access the centre without use of stairs or lift dedicated to blue badge holders. Great idea but they are hardly ever used. Strange things is they converted these spaces into disabled bays after a few years. I can only assume that someone complained re too little spaces and they just went mental.

Lol! I know. Even more so when the child keeps putting the roof up and down like a yo yo

I took my niece and nephew out in the car last summer and they loved it so much that they are both saving their pocket money to buy one.

When their parents went to the dealer to buy a new 4 series, neither child had any interest in the new car.

Space = " Parent and Child" ? Not "Parent WITH Child" ?

I'm a parent, my 'child' is [ahum] over 20, but seems to me I can park there

Shouldn't really be called Parent anything because it's not always parents that look after children. Possibly a new name of adult and child. I would say responsible but that's not always the case. Usually with child is how they refer to pregnant women and unless they've got kids they won't want them parking there until they've dropped it.

I know that Tesco's 'parent and child' spaces are only supposed to be used with one of their badges they provide via a club but these only last until the youngest child turns 5, after that your not entitled to park there. These spaces were brought in to help parents with young children that require to be strapped into a car seat

In Tesco Durham just park where you want . Blue badge areas are free - a fella reported a non badge holder to the customer desk and was told " nothing we can do "

Theres an evoque parks in blue badge area every week - no badge ever displayed!

A bit of a thread revival.. I couldn't believe my eyes when I parked up!
Looks good to me on all accounts. BMW well over to the left and Merc taking up only one space. Of course there will be the twat parking enforcer who will plant a ticket cos "your not parked within the lines".

Looks good to me - well smart parking by the merc, not in anyone's way, protecting his asset!

Clearly he'll get a ticket though.

On the subject of cars in blue badge spots...

*especially* cars that look 'out of place' in one (but read the additional text at the bottom)

(if you look close, you can see the blue badge)

(This was last summer. I'd rented that McLaren Spider for a week and added my friend there to the drivers. He's a 'legit' blue badge holder. Yes, we drove to Tesco for the giggles, had a nice conversation with the the lady parked next to us. Drove to Boots and I only had to correct one pair of morons that made a comment. The above pic is outside a casino in West Yorkshire while we played some poker. At one point the manager came over and said "Which one of you has the McLaren? It's got to be one of you poker players!". My friend sheepishly raised his hand with the McLaren remote in it. Needless to say the rest of the players at the table started folding every time he raised a hand after that.)
