Bad Day part 2 - warranty issue FINALLY resolved!

Well done for persevering!

Who are Specialist Cars? I've tried searching but there are many.

Are they a body shop or something else? How did they have influence on the decision?

It'll probably help people going forward. :)

Specialist Cars Tring are a BMW dealership. They have their own body shop in Hitchen and I went to see the manager there. He went through all the history of the claim with me and the warranty wording and agreed the roof had corrosion and should be covered. It also helped that Z4M-2006 had given me his car details and when he'd had warranty paint on his roof. Luckily someone from BMW was visiting the body shop last week and the manager went through my case with him. He was told to submit the warranty claim and it would processed which happened Friday.

The manager Pete was very helpful and although he already had pictures and the technical report on my roof, I took the car in to see him personally which I believe helped. He spent over an hour with me I left feeling that although BMW UK didn't care, he did and would fight my corner!
I was lucky that Pete was a top bloke and my faith in dealerships has been restored a little

Wow, well done.

You two have definitely set precedents! Not good of Bmw UK to try and wriggle out of it to begin with.

Glad you got there in the end.

Final update:
Collected the car today and the roof looks great and they didn't damage my car replacing it!
All's well that ends well

I have the same problem with mine (end of 2010 model) and they said bugger off! I noticed it after I first bought it

However, after it was coated with CQuartz Ceramic coating it hasn't got worse. Going to get it resprayed one of these days, but not a priority at the moment

I would get BMW to replace the roof. They did mine under warranty so I cant see how they can refuse you now as they've set a precedent

Great result and well done to sticking to your guns. The correct result in the end. It amazes me at times how the experience at dealers can vary so much from one to another.

Shame you have to sell it now though good luck with your e85 search.

Cheers Philip. I don't have to sell it now, so I'm not

My BMW warranty ran out and I've been to three dealers and they've all told me the same thing. I've just accepted it now and will get it fixed myself
