Back with a 3.0 roadster

Hi all,

Just purchased my 5th Z4 after a trip down to Kent. Not yet done a full VIN check for full spec, but she’s a black sapphire metallic, 2005 3.0 manual car, heated electric seats, nav, xenons and on 60k miles.

The drive home was fairly pain free. I have a pretty severe steering shake above 60 mph. The front tyres are Bridgestone runflats which are nearly an illegal tread limit, so next Tuesday I have 2 x Goodyear Asymmetric 5’s going on as my first attempt at process of elimination. Rears are new Bridgestone non-RFT (I think!) so all good there (possibly!).

After 6 months with a 2.0 MX5 Mk3, its nice to have more power and torque to play with, even if not a LSD.

She needs a lot of cleaning after sitting under a cover outside and not really being used much (200 miles in the last year), so the project starts today.

Looks lovely. What’s.the story behind having 5? Is it a love / hate affair or do you like doing them up and selling them on?

I’m onto #2 and am surprised just how few I see nowadays.

Hi and welcome back to Z4 ownership with such a smart looking example.

Most excellent ! Congrat's

Oh yeah, you had a "E36 Z3MC Breadvan" Bet you wished you had kept that :?

Thanks all. Good to be back [again] although you never really leave [PVR].

Putter Whore - Im an addict. I seem to buy cars, love them, improve them and invariably lose money on them when I get bored  Plus there are Zed boxes that need ticking and I’ve done all now except Alpina.

Worcester_Spoon/N4LLY - Yes, I miss the Imola Breadvan too - almost daily - but I bought low and sold high and they havent really done much since then, so its my one example of not losing money

Can you ping me what you paid for that one? Looking for a project car and something like that looks mighty fine for that

Hey Inkey$, welcome back. That looks like a nicely specced car, but surely the number plate is illegal? I’ve forsaken my beautiful coupe and am in a 3.0i roadster too (but you know that already  ).

Well done inkey$. I noticed you have been looking for another one for a while. Must be a good 'un as you have been pretty patient IMO.

Indeed, although I love a European Union. The plate will be changed when I get the new V5 and swap over to my own number. Hope you’re enjoying roadster life too

More luck than judgement, Pondrew. Being on Autotrader at the right time tbh. Lynchy and Bing can attest to my inbuilt lack of patience in the recent days after selling my MX5  And I really wanted a little project for the springtime too.

The EU GB part isn't illegal, if that's what you are referring to, it just won't be officially recognised by the police on the continent. Grant Shapps the government minister changed the ISO designation for the UK to UK (used to be GB) quote 'to show solidarity with Northern Ireland' post Brexit. You don't have to change your plate but if you're travelling abroad you're advised to put a UK sticker on your car or change your plate to one that has UK on it or risk being fined. His unannounced change left the RAC and lots of other organisations with an inventory of worthless GB stickers.
