]Yay! Back in a manual sports car!!It's been a while. Owned a Z4MC a few years back but sold it as with two babies I never got to drive it much, but then went through:
S2000 (plus a daily) I know right, why sell a Z4mc to get a s2000?
E46 M3 Vert (plus a daily)
Lexus ISF
BMW 130i (modded with LSD, BMW Performance Intake and Exhaust)
And then decided to change tack and bought a Lexus LS430 for the luxo barge experience, whilst it's been relaxing and comfortable, it wasn't exciting. I really wanted a manual sporty car, and since I loved Hondas, I showed the Mrs a ton of of civic type r. Don't know why I bother really, as she hates them and tells me off for wanting something like that at my age (forties)
For some reason, I ended up watching loads of Z4m related youtube videos. I thought to myself, well the beemer does look better than civic type r, maybe......
Started trawling through the classifieds, and the coupe was out of my budget but the roadsters weren't too bad. TBH, I told myself nothing would come up really, but then Mike's roadster came up, and to cut a long story short, flight tickets booked and the long drive back from Glasgow with the car ensued!
Had a bit of a hooha with my insurance, with my existing supplier trying to charge me £1500 on the day! Got around it by buying temp insurance for a day to get me home. (With the excess at £1100, I drove slowly and very safely home. Glasgow to Notts on £42 tank fuel.)
I'll add some pictures shortly.
Thanks to Mike for the coffee and biscuits and guiding me to the petrol station!
Appreciate the memory of the coupe may be hazy, but first thoughts on the roadster were:
1. This roadster was the best condition one I had seen, better than 3 that I had originally looked at all those years ago!
2. To drive, the gear change was also the best. There was no notchiness or kangerooing at all! (Or am I a better driver now?
)3. On initial impressions it's better than my old 07 coupe! (or is it because I've been driving the L430 for so long, I would have loved any manual sports car!  )
4. One thing is clear - There's no hesitation so far, which sometimes appeared on my z4MC.
